Reimagining How We Review our Mixes (or plan new tracks) – Introducing Opusonix

Hey KVR folks,
As someone who's spent way too many late nights chasing down mix notes across email threads, texts, and scattered Google Docs, I finally decided to build something that could handle it all in one place — especially for small teams working remotely.

That’s what Opusonix is: a lightweight, browser-based platform for planning and mix review of audio projects — designed for producers, engineers, and collaborators who care about keeping things clear, timely, and on track.

At its core, Opusonix is about:
Better communication — timestamped comments on audio files that keep everyone on the same page
Organized project flow — visual boards and milestones so you know what’s done and what’s next
No login for clients/reviewers — just send a private link and get feedback directly

Sigh... I really, really wish you all the best with this project, because it looks a lot like you put a lot of thought and work in to it.

But the reality is: you're aiming for a niche within the niche of music production. This is the kind of tool, of which I've lost count how many have been released in the past few years, that is very much aimed at big, commercial productions. Because, let's face it, most producers (as in beat producers) just use email, WhatsApp and Dropbox and that's it.

Again, I don't want to rain on your parade, but I would bet that on amateur forums like KVR, there are very, very few people who are in need of a tool like this. Simply because the scope of their productions is mostly themselves and maybe a couple of friends. And if they ever came to work with a mixing engineer, they'd probably just use the aforementioned tools...

Thank you for your message and your honest feedback! We certainly need this.
The problem we try to solve is actually exactly what you mentioned - the combination of email + dropbox and the messiness of it. I've been working in the music industry for nearly two decades now and I know first hand how hard it is to provide feedback on audio tracks. And Opusonix makes it easy to leave precise comments and optimizes the communication between engineers, producers and artists. Even if you are a solo artist/producer, you may still find Opusonix's review capability helpful when critiquing your own tracks.
Lastly - Opusonix has a free plan so engineers/producers without a lot of workload can just stay on the free tier and still enjoy the benefits.

Now the only problem left is reliable musicians and clients at times with a proper skillset (sometimes..)

But I would add one tiny feature - a 3-band eq that can be used as a comment/timestamp for clients without eq knowledge (it's a big problem with non-mixing clients like singers - "it's too flowery/wooden/rubbery"). It really would make mixing via cloud way easier

Hey! Thanks for checking us out! Hopefully with the on-track annotation & the support for voice-based feedback, working with a wide range of musicians/clients can become a little easier.

The EQ idea is nice! We'll think about that. Right now we don't touch your audio tracks. If you uploaded uncompressed, that's what you all will hear. No compression / processing of any kind, so you hear the tracks the way they naturally sound. This is because I know a lot of engineers who don't want any "extras" on their tracks.

For now - on the topic of showing a client the diff between versions, here's what you can do at the moment: create another bounce with some EQ touches, drop it into your project workspace, then use Opusonix's ability to do seamless A/B (as shown in this video: ).
