I have Obelisk and its great, but it’s a spectral delay/filter/gate, so it’s a different paradigm and sounds much different than FXEQ.carambo wrote: Tue Aug 05, 2025 11:24 pm There is something similar since 10y : Obelisk by Artificial Audio

I use Spectre almost daily so I get the value prop of this style of interface. I was thinking having some additional (but hideable) params would be valuable for the mod, delay, and verb modules. Serato HexFX does this - reduced parameters by default, but with an option to dig into deeper settings if desired.Uncle E wrote: Wed Aug 06, 2025 5:58 pmThe challenge was creating something powerful without losing the immediacy. Maybe that's available but hidden? Not sure. Also, much of iZotope's plugins are fairly CPU intensive, so hopefully this one is a little more CPU friendly.
The other thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is that HPF/LPF makes a lot of sense when applying most FX (I use each plugin's onboard HPF/LPF almost always), but this kind of interface is typically better for attacking narrower frequency bands, which isn't something I find myself doing with mod/verb/delay very often. I haven't had a chance to demo it yet, so may be selling it short...

Yes, I hear you. Maybe that'll come in a future version. I beta tested FXEQ and definitely got the impression that the goal was to keep it lean and mean, at least for now.billinder33 wrote: Thu Aug 07, 2025 12:28 am I use Spectre almost daily so I get the value prop of this style of interface. Yes, FXEQ can be an HPF, an LPF, or two different versions of BPF.The other thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is that HPF/LPF makes a lot of sense when applying most FX (I use each plugin's onboard HPF/LPF almost always), but this kind of interface is typically better for attacking narrower frequency bands, which isn't something I find myself doing with mod/verb/delay very often.

Each EQ is a Pro Q (node) style eq. ie. It's a full six band eq where each node can be different.billinder33 wrote: Thu Aug 07, 2025 12:28 amI use Spectre almost daily so I get the value prop of this style of interface. You have a bell, a bell with proportional q, and a low and high filter. Each node has gain, frequency and Q. So you can be as broad or narrow as you want.
The eq is effectively a frequency based gain control for the effect.
So in essence each effect is applied to the full signal range and the eq is after each effect.
It would be like having five individual effect sends in parallel with an eq after each effect return.
I guess the idea is to have 5 commonly used effects in one plugin with frequency based control over the return.
I think it actually works best as a send based effect (as opposed to an insert)
As I said above the lack of control isn't as bad as it first appears because most effects have multiple variants and since every effect is tied to an eq you can do a lot with it.
As Uncle E said above it's a quick way of applying multiple effects to a source.

This is an excellent little plugin that, despite its apparent simplicity and small number of controls, has a huge amount of range. That range isn't in the number of controls per module, it's in the infinite number of ways you can assign and combine the frequency bands for those modules.

I hope they do keep it on the lean side. Not that they shouldn't add some improvements/features (I really want serial routing!), but it's already a straightforward workflow with a lot of room for experimentation. And, I love that it takes an idea that would be very complex to route in a DAW with that many effects and simplifies it, quite brilliantly IMO, not to mention cheaply (thanks to the jrrshop discountUncle E wrote: Thu Aug 07, 2025 5:05 am I beta tested FXEQ and definitely got the impression that the goal was to keep it lean and mean, at least for now.
