I remember it was clear right at the beginning there is free vers and that it is basically the same as the paid versions. It missed some preset packs & maybe some of text to speech(?) option. So it should not be a surprise there was free version :)

Vital is really awesome synth.
Would be nice it will get some updates or bug fixes.
And would be really nice the synth keeps on living and evolving.

Was there ever a reply to this CLAP issue with Vital on macos?

Is this synth still alive or abandoned?
Asking for a potential customer.

Matt only slapped the Vst2Clap adapter provided by the clapistas onto the vst3 code ... the clap version of vital is just vst3 with another layer of indirection ... which in the case of the adapter is useless / does not offer any advantage over vst3. the problem is not vital but the adapter afair. it does not make use of the clap promises ... kind of a pontemkin village. I use vst3.

Considering Matt has ghosted his Vital forum for almost two years (last post: Nov 8, '23), I'd say that's a waste of time. It would appear abandoned on the face of it. But the synth still works quite well considering it hasn't seen any revisions since Feb. 2023. No real reason not to download it and use it.

Ah, look here. Looks like he is actively working on a UI library https://github.com/VitalAudio/visage, last commit yesterday

Nice!
Maybe he will just release Vital2 out of nowhere. Just like Serum2.
Just speculating and knowing nothing.
I am happy with Vital1. Bug free and stable here. Sounds dope.

Vital 2 is going to be fantastic, no doubt about that.

Vital1 is sick, no question. I still use it very often.
And looking at the demos for his gui library, a new version of vital incorporating this lib will be the sick side of sick.

For some reason, the most recent updated Vital (v.1.5.5 I believe?) causes my HDR display to momentarily turn black if the HDR is enabled on Windows 11.

Similar to what happens when the user manually switches between HDR and Standard modes with the shortcut Win+Alt+B.

Albeit after the black screen, Vital returns still in HDR mode rather than switching to SDR.

i.e. HDR + Opening Vital UI = momentarily black screen, then back to HDR mode.

Vital only does this once per Project session. But it's still annoying each time it does it and it is the only plugin which has this behaviour on my devices.

Any ideas on why this happens? Could is have something to do with Microsoft game bar installed? (It's installed for the aforementioned reason, to allow quick manual switching between SDR and HDR, with that handy keyboard shortcut)

My guess would be that it's related to Vital being the first thing in the DAW or plugin host's process (since the application process was started) to create an HDR (with colorspace) D3D surface, causing Windows or the GPU driver and then the display to try switching desktop color space/depth modes to support the extended color range of the Vital window. Just a guess, and I don't know the exact reason.

For what it's worth, I have desktop HDR disabled in Windows, even though my display technically supports it, and I don't see this desktop blanking behavior in Vital.

Someone needs to post an Issue there in Github saying, "How about responding to your paying Vital customers?" Or something like that. I'd find the response really interesting! :D
