Isn't this more or less a preset slingshot?

I do, Ive owned Falcon since it was MachFive3 and it's far more fun to make patches and sample sets in than Kontakt.martinjuenke wrote: Mon Aug 04, 2025 7:36 pm Isn't this more or less a preset slingshot?

I think that I had a bunch that expired. Oh well. I had forgotten that I bought Falcon on sale last fall, LOL!pekbro wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:17 pm I don't like how they use discounts to try to force you into buying, imo a coupon for a product upgrade should not expire. That kind of thing makes me not want to buy anything from them.

Off Topic: If there are physical models of analog synths/oscillators why are there no Physical models of FM synths/oscillators?

Physical modeling as in a device that uses an exciter sound into some resonators? Are you thinking there could be an algorithm that affects the position of the resonators the way FM affects a sound? I wonder if it would ever be desirable to do it this way instead of applying FM to what comes out of the resonators.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

So in Falcon I tried a pluck osc into the harmonic resonator. The homemade wavetable from years ago that failed to load in the wavetable osc did load into pluck, anyway I put on/off switch's on each resonator (LFO) and promptly fell down a rabbit hole.
But it's the idea that physical models don't have to be component level circuit modeling you hit upon.
(it sounds great without the harmonic resonator. Falcon needs supprisingly little to sound great.)

Here is a Falcon script called "Traveler" that I have been developing for a while. It presents a grid (up to 12x12) with rovers that travel through the grid bouncing off obstacles and emitting notes when reflecting off walls. A "happy accident" machine.
This is the first of a few different sequencers on the workbench. Consider this a beta release. Comments, crits, and usability suggestions warmly welcomed.

I've never imported a script into Falcon before, so I've probably made an error on my end. But, this is how it is showing up for me...ToneCarver wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 11:08 pm Here is a Falcon script called "Traveler" that I have been developing for a while. Any ideas what I've done wrong? File location? I put it in C:\Users\(me)\Documents\UVI\Falcon\User Presets\EventProcessors\Script Processor

The images are missing. The "_images" folder needs to be in the same location as the script. My fault for not having install instructions in the README file. Adding them now ...

For those unfamilliar - Do not download the raw LUA script only. The green button on the Github has the option to download the Repository as a .ZIP . Do that instead.
also disregard my PM, I figured it out.
-after setup of the grid (a large extreemly complex one), I constrained it with reduced polyphony ,not by reducing grid size but rather from Falcon polyphony settings -to rein it in- sounds wounderful with poly portamento too.

Thanks! All good now. I'll have a play with it later.ToneCarver wrote: Wed Aug 13, 2025 11:13 am The images are missing. The "_images" folder needs to be in the same location as the script. For example:

I installed it sucessfully and it worked (using Falcon in Ableton Live 12).
It is fun to play around with it for sure. From the first couple of stuff that I tried I especially liked what you can do melody wise in a column of 2x10 or so and the larger 12x12 grids with longer gate lenghts and "disabling" some notes via barriers to receive a chord as the playground. Shifting some walls 1-2 octaves down gets you a random pad/chord pattern.
I like that you can automate scale, root pitch and the pitch of the side walls for variations of what is happening.
Suggestions @tonecarver:
- For the Automation of root pitch: It would be nice if instead of a number (60 e.g.) the automation value would be the name of the root note (C3). But I do not know if this is possible at all or if this is prohibited by Falcon or LUA (or Live).
- Work flow would be a little easier if it was possible to deactivate notes in the side walls, or, even better, if you added a mode where one could assign individual notes indepent from scale and root pitch in the side walls.
- More pattern variation by adding a function to the rovers for double or half speed (or maybe this already exists and I did not see it?)

Awesome. Sounds like you have good command of the possibilities.
The display in the script should be showing the note name (C3, D#4, etc). Are you seeing a number for the root pitch? Or are you referring to the value of the automation lane in Live? If it is the automation lane in Live there isn't anything I can do about that. Maybe someone more familiar with Live has a suggestion there .. ?Requeenre wrote: Wed Aug 13, 2025 10:57 pm Suggestions @tonecarver:

I did entertain the idea of importing scale definitions from a text file but ultimately decided against it to keep things simple. This might be an idea to add to the TODO list though .. add a tabbed panel that accepts entry of custom notes for each wall. I have other sequencers I'd like to finish first but it could be done if there is enough call for it.Requeenre wrote: Wed Aug 13, 2025 10:57 pm- Work flow would be a little easier if it was possible to deactivate notes in the side walls, or, even better, if you added a mode where one could assign individual notes indepent from scale and root pitch in the side walls.
The ability to have a mix or normal speed and half speed rovers was a feature in the VST and VCV Rack versions of this sequencer. It would be a little more compicated to do in UVIScript but it is technically feasible. Adding this to the wish list.Requeenre wrote: Wed Aug 13, 2025 10:57 pm - More pattern variation by adding a function to the rovers for double or half speed (or maybe this already exists and I did not see it?)
