Have you ever tried asking Arturia or NI about the development status of their products, hardware or software? 🤣
For the record: I'm not researching it, just telling from experience, so Arturia and NI might be bad examples again 🤣
Yes I've got my own beef with Arturia and the Spark hardware but in their particular case they've got a gigantic catalog to worry about, most of which has been receiving updates as they can get to them (even the Spark 2 software which got an Apple M-series update at the end of 2022), while still releasing new products. Thats a far cry from Tytel who has one product that he's still selling, not supporting, and gone into radio silence on. Arturia isn't selling Spark hardware anymore and hasn't for quite awhile no matter what my beef with them is.
mesamask wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 9:11 am But frankly I don't care. Because I'm sure like 90% of us here had their very own bad experiences in that realm already...
But hey, jumping on a single, quite regular dude instead is just far easier
Well, clearly you do care on some level because you are posting about it. Not sure why it makes a difference if its one guy or a larger business - he's still running a business.
mesamask wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 9:11 am By the way, I'm not even taking this half as serious as it might seem.
Already stated "I'm not understanding the fuzz". As well as I indicated Matt should handle certain things differently.
But I'm not in the position to dictate this guy how he should do things, and don't think anyone else here is.
I disagree. Any paying customer has a right to complain about the product they paid for. If he decided it was too hard to support (wouldn't be surprised) he should stop selling the damned thing, note that, and keep the free version as-is. Problem solved. I expect that Teksonic's main complaint is that the guy has just disappeared while still letting people buy something that isn't supported with zero indication that's the case. Any new customer that isn't trawling thru forums like this one isn't going to know and that's a shitty business practice.

Matt only needs to do two things if he intends to make a Vital2:

1. Charge for Vital 2, and not "bargain" pricing.
2. Keep the same accessibility. Vital has unmatched ease of use.

That's it.
Have you tried Vital?

And:

3. Avoid promising anything subscription-related and essentially scam people yet again. At least then he would be able to abandon a theoretical Vital 2 without too much fuss and just ship an "as-is" product.

And:
Make it better than Serum 2. lol

Don't waste your time on this synth.

Did not. If the future looks unknown, the synth is not for us.

It's a pretty advanced plugin that you can legally download and use for free. It's stable, sounds great and works well

It's in VST3 format and as such will be useable for decades into the future

How is anyone wasting their time if they download and use it?

Because it takes away from an active, hyper advanced project that was the "inspiration" for Vital (basically Vital used Serum for its core design, it was even talked about as the "free serum killer") but Vital made it free to gain popularity thinking it would do a "bait and switch" eventually which it did. Dude use what you want to use but call it for what it is which is funny now because of how much more advanced Serum 2 has become.

I like Vital...

It is inspiring to use, with one of the best workflows of any soft synth out there...

I really appreciate Matt's coding efforts and I am sure that he will be back again one day with something special...

In the meantime,Vital works perfectly,so I'll leave the bitching and moaning to other folks who have more time on their hands for that sort of thing 🌞

I choose to focus on the music and the positive side of the equation 🙏
No auto tune...

I have owned Serum for 10 years, I don't think that also having Vital takes away anything from Serum

I also have Massive, Massive X, Microwave, Blofeld, Pigments, HALion, Falcon and a bunch of other plugins that do wavetables

All of those are the bastard stepchildren of the "MUSIC II" from 1958 invented by Max Matthews that was further refined by Wolfgang Palm in the late 1970s

it could be argued that Serum took away from Massive which came out 8 years prior which was an active hyper advanced project, I don't think that because I think such arguments are stupid

Wavetable Synthesis was around for many decades before there was a Serum or a Massive or a Blofeld or a Microwave or a PPG Wave

And let's not forget that Serum 2 was developed after Vital came out so not sure why anyone would make the leap that somehow Vital is hurting Serum and development on Serum has ended

As consumers we have never had it better, rather than hitting the fainting couch with fake outrage let's just be happy that there are many fantastic plugins available that are inexpensive or even free

Dude use what you want but call it for what is is, Serum sounds awesome but it's not revolutionary in anyway and was built on the shoulders of giants, and if Vital is destroying Serum well why would anyone waste time on a plugin that according to you is headed for the ash heap

The problem is that we are still talking about a dead project, who gives a f**k what happens to Vital? He made his money, I guarantee he will not produce something better than Serum 2 as no one trusts him anymore so why bother making anything. I don't knock him or anyone who uses Vital, lets just stop talking about it.

Post

You're welcome to stop talking about it any time!

Yet in your dearth of free time because you're "focusing on the music" you were able to show up and make this comment.

A dearth of time for the mirth of the earth.

My Vital isn‘t dead at all. Where is the problem? You could even compile it yourself (in case Apple decides to move to a new processor in a decade) Open source software cannot be dead…
If you ever bought a sound set, do you expect it to be updated? You rather buy another set. You never bought Vital, only the sound sets if you bought anything at all…
