Hi,

I'm pretty keen on these plugs in theory. However, there's no demo and only a few pretty useless mp3s. I was wondering if anyone here has either of these plugs and would care to comment? I am particularly interested in discord as it sounds like it might be very cool for producing those twangy pitching effects. What is the range of the pitch shift effect?

I'd be interested in knowing as well. In fact I was going to ask this last week. Cant remember why I didnt.

Bit peeved there's no demo VST of the Digital stuff or the Ratshack, actually

Hi....suthnear and whyterabbit...yes it's a bit strange that there are no demos....I purchased the Ratshack a while ago and it is a seriously nice plug for what it does...on the basis of that and the feature set of the Digitalis pair I bought the 2 plugs...for me I was not disappointed...what they do is fantastic...if you like sonic weirdness and electronical type sounds that these early bits of hardware could do then you will enjoy these....still that's no excuse for not being able to really demo them(it really is a shame that there are no demos as a lot of people will just not buy because they are excellent)since opinion can be so subjective...anyway here is the info from Discords Pdf for the pitch shift ranges:

The value in the display indicates the amount of pitch shift expressed as a ratio of the shifted signal’s frequency to the original signal’s frequency. The range goes from .50,which is half the original pitch (or one octave down) up to 2.00, double the original pitch (or one octave up.) At 1.00, no pitch shifting occurs. When the MIDI Note To
Pitch switch is active, this knob is disabled.

also here are the midi features of Discord:

Note to Pitch:

When this switch is active, pressing a note on your MIDI controller will set the pitch shifting effect accordingly, enabling you to play the pitch shifter as if it were an instrument. Middle C (MIDI note 60) sets the pitch shifter at 1.00, or no shifting. The range is one octave below middle C to one\octave above middle C. When this switch is active, the Manual Tune knob is disabled.

Wheel to Feedback: When this switch is active, the “Feedback” knob is disabled, and the feedback amount is determined by the position of the mod wheel (MIDI controller #1) on your controller. In this manner, you may “play” the feedback along with your track, for interesting results.

Of possible interest here are some of the midi
features from Deverb:

Note to infinity:

When this switch is active, pressing a note on the MIDI controller activates the “infinity” feature of Deverb. This stops all input to the\effect, and puts the reverb itself in to an infinite loop, creating a sustained sonic\texture.Creatively programming this feature, along with the Pre Delay settings, will result in interesting rhythmic patterns, especially on drum loops or snare\parts.

Note to gate:

When this switch is active, the switch under the Wet level knob is bypassed, and the wet signal is only passed while the plug-in is receiving a MIDI
note. You can use this to rhythmically gate the effect, or to create the “gated\reverb” sound which was used to excess on many recordings of drums made in the 1980s,among many other possibilities.

Wheel to Size:

When this switch is active, the Room Size control is bypassed, and the room size setting is determined by the position of the mod wheel (MIDI controller #1) on your controller. In this manner, you may “play” the room size along with your track, for interesting results and...the Bitrot Knob!describes it very well.

Very impressive little plugs for the money and quite unique.

Audio damage are also working on further plugs for the Digitalis range which I'm looking forward to. :D

Motion - thanks for that. How do the ratshack and deverb plugs compare sonically?

I have always liked the mayhem bundle (on the strength of the demo anyway) but didn't get it because it covers ground I have fairly well covered anyway. I think I may very well get discord - it's not like it's going to bankrupt me or anything...

Thanks for the kind comments!

Theodore contacted me about transfering his licenses, and that is no problem. If someone here wants to buy his copies, we will issue new registration codes for that customer. I've given him the information the new person will need.

Viz. the demo issue with Ratshack and the two Digitalis plugs: we offer a 100% no-questions-asked money back guarantee. So if you buy them and they don't work for you, for whatever reason, you just have to write us and we'll refund your credit card or Paypal account. So there's no risk, and we're a little better protected from hax0rs who, for some reason, seem loathe to put their credit card information in.

(I really need to add that information to the website!)

We do demos for our more expensive products, but for these plugs that are $29.00 or $39.00 it seemed like more trouble than it was worth, for all parties concerned. Thus the refund policy.

I understand about the attempt to minimize hacker's access, but lack of a demo has been the only thing holding me back from persuing license purchases for all of these plugs..I've been drooling over Audiodamage for months now..

I appreciate the audio demos, but I have never determined a plug's value from listening to other ppl's application of it very easily..

I'll probably get em all anyways

:hyper:

edit: By the way, thhose are some f**king SLICK GUI's..I love all of them..

I'm definitely going to get me some damage when I get paid this month...

Well, having picked up Theo's Digitalis plugins I can safely say they're quite nicely mental indeed. Modwheel-to-roomsize on the reverb and modweel-to-feedback on the pitchshifter have to be the best reminder of those 'twiddling the analogue delay pedal to make star trek sound effects' moments you'll find in a plugin today, IMO....

'twiddling the analogue delay pedal to make star trek sound effects' moments you'll find in a plugin today, IMO....
I bought the original 1st season Star Trek series on dvd when it came out in October....I have been amazed at the sound fx...the menu page on the dvd has a picture of the bridge and all the flashing lights on the racks of the enterprise consoles...and all those magical beeps and bridge sounds are bouncing around...it's amazingly quite hypnotic and relaxing...I've nodded off quite a few times and woke up after whatever episode has finished to hear all the sounds...and that pitch shifted(seems to be) sinister sound when there is malice, mystery and fear when aliens appear is a real gem like so many others. :-o

You can get some amazing effects out of the Digitalis plugs especially routing them through each other....I've been doing a lot of extreme timestretching with stuff rendered through them.....Some of the sonic weirdness and artifacting really brings out the character of the digitalis plugs traits and shows just how good these plugs are for creating all sorts of atmospherics....Sickle you will probably really like these for their sonic madness and creativity

Suthnear...they are like chalk and cheese.....use them together with the Ratshack(the reverb in Ratshack is a bit of a misnomer)for it's crazy rubber band delays and overload feedback through the mic inputs and electronalize it through the Deverb.....hit some notes to gate and modwheel to roomsize and indulge in the delights with a big pinch of Discord to taste  ....all I can say is get them both if you like this sort of thing...of course all the plugs have a serious side to them too if you want to be more formal with them.

They both have a definite and distinctly different sonic character when using the Ratshack as a reverb.....one thing is for sure though if you don't like them you can get your money back :D

Crandall1...nice to see you here....these digitalis plugs are F.... great :D ......can you mention anything to the others about the upcoming work...(and no I don't know anyone in the Company)for everyones interest. :)

Unfortunately, the time is not yet ripe to drop anything about that. I'll put up a screenshot when we've got the final feature set done. It's very close, though.

The Digitalis plug-ins are quickly becoming indespensible in my production. I used Discord to thicken the lead vocal for our upcoming 7" single, and Deverb was used on the snare. Very nice, indeed. They have a sort of "retro digital" sound (as advertised) that took me right back to the early Eighties. Don't hesitate to pick them up, they really are worth the (meager) cost. On the strength of these, I'll probably have to pony up for the rest of the Audio Damage goodies. I can't wait to see what else these guys have in store. :)
