Doesn't have to be arturia specific just these are the plug ibs I have.

What should i use the sitral for?

I know preamps are to boost a sound but more specifically what should I do? When do I want those one?

Thanks

Preamp plugins are basically just saturators. Use them for their colour.

Aren't they meant to just make things louder? I been using them really only with my 808 samples since those are really quiet

You can certainly use the preamps to make things louder, but the input gain also adds a little bit of "color" to the sound, leading to distortion if you crank it higher. And of course, they have eq's added onto them

Once you're in your DAW you can boost anything with any kind of clean digital gain. You don't need a preamp emulation for quiet samples, unless you want to add some weight/saturation.
I agree that the main use for preamp plugins on digital audio is saturation, and maybe using their Eq section (if they have it) to roughly shape the sound.

In the analog realm, roughly speaking, things like instruments and microphones are usually too quiet on their own for recording systems, and that's where preamps come into play as the actual tools to boost those quiet ANALOG signals up to usable recording levels (aka "line level").
Some preamps (especially vintage types) tend to saturate quite a bit when they boost the signal, but there's also "clean" preamps which are often preferable to capture a more neutral sound.
Audio interfaces usually come with "clean" preamp inputs for microphones and/or instruments.

Aren’t Arturia‘s preamps auto gain compensated? I use them to color the sound, not to make it meaningfully louder as that’s not possible anyway.

I have absolutely no idea

Thoughts on the sitral?

It's a good eq. Does the workflow feel good to you? That's the most important part. I prefer the eq in Izotope Neutron because it's faster and has a handy masking feature.

I like it but it isn't a precise instrument, with 3 broad 'bands'. I'm also unsure what the m/s feature does (mid /side) as I hear no difference.

Could you change the title topic from Asturias to Arturia ?
I am always thinking about tourism in Spain each time I read your title
