STEPIC - is there any other Sequencers which might give you something more? Riffer?

Went through this same search maybe a year ago and also was disappointed after reviewing the many interesting options folks here suggested. In my opinion, the very best sequencer & arp combination is in Serum 2. The sequencer offers an endless piano roll for polyphonic sequencing, and then what you set up there can be run through the arp, which has a "pattern" option that again offers polyphonic sequencing so that you can go wild with syncopated beats--polyphonically! The problem is, it only works within Serum 2. I don't see why this polyphonic sequencer & arp combo can't be created as an independent midi fx plugin--maybe this will happen someday!

Aware of that. But you still have to use Serum 2 itself, with its own oscillators and other sound makers. There's no getting around it.

And hear...what? At least in Logic, you can't double load synths in the same channel, and Serum 2 won't go in the midi fx slot. If you can route the midi out from one channel to another that has a different synth, well then you may have something. But what a PITA. The real need is for a sequencer/arp that does what Serum 2 can do, apart from Serum 2.

For special routing I use modular plugin environments:
These plugins can host plugins.
Element - https://kushview.net/
LUA scripting https://element.readthedocs.io/en/lates ... g-a-script
Bidule, rock solid. Keep it simple or get real midi-creative.

Freestyle https://www.newsonicarts.com/html/freestyle.php
Metaplugin - built in 32-64 bit bridge

+1 for Element.
Luna allows you to midi out to other instruments. Can’t Logic do that?

I wish there were more that let you work with polyphonic sequences.......especially when you want to introduce some Euclidean non-linearity and trigger some interesting playback variations.
Looked at it once or twice, but haven't used Stepic yet.
Got Riffer, the HY sequencer collection, and some Sugar bytes stuff like Thesys and Consequence which could really do with a fullscreen mode. There's a lot out there for building mono patterns, but a poly one would be really nice

Extremely simple and fun and usually on sale for few dollars… (now seems to be 80% off at checkout).

This is a quick way, feeding the notefx layer one note, using note transpose for what ever pitch you want for each layer, using the gate on the arp for gate, set what ever note length/steps you want for each layer

I tried the demo of Polyllop but ultimately didn't bite on it. Stochas might not be as pretty, but it also lets you run different length sequences together, and you can even route them out to different MIDI channels.Uncle E wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 9:14 pmhttps://510k.de/products/polyllop-seque ... Riffer does those things, as well. I like Stochas but I get useable results faster with Riffer.

Riffer seems to be under-rated but is very powerful either playing with it live or using automation.
Stepic is good for polyrhythms atho you need multiple instances. Try different sequence lengths and the custom note length setting
HY SEQ32 is the most powerful I have come across for rhythmic complexity- multiple pitch sequences that can each have different lengths and different rates and the length and rate can be modulated. Just amazing
