Anybody still have/using one of these? I had one years ago and, as I recall, I had an official G-Media app and a 3rd party app, (which I actually helped develop). But I sold my original Phatboy years ago.
But I just had one fall in my lap in a trade and I'd like to give it another whirl. I've been through my archives and can't find the apps. I believe I lost them in catastrophic drive failure years ago. I've also lost contact with the dev I worked with in creating the 3rd party app. I've done a deep dive on the net and can't find any traces except the original Keyfax site, (all links dead). If anyone has any software related to this unit I would be most grateful if you would be so kind as to share it.

what did the app actually do? looks like the CC's etc for this were all hardcoded, depending on mode, as per the SOS review

On the negative side, it's a shame there isn't a 'user‑definable' mode so you could choose the controllers yourself rather than rely on preset ones.

I just heard back from G-force. They asked some of the old timers who were around when G-Media released V2. They said there was no "official" app and that it was sold as a simple MIDI CC box. But....there was a a 3rd party app. I know because I helped work on it. A guy in the UK was the main dev. It was finished and released as freeware. I know that it interacted with the hardware but it was so long ago I honestly can't remember what it brought to the party. Wish I could find it in my archives but I think it was lost in a hard drive failure.

I remember the unit, but not the GMedia connection. How strange.
How original

V1 was released under the Keyfax brand. I don't know what relationship is but V2 was branded G-Media and added quite a bit of additional functionality. As I recall, G-media also released an e-prom kit that allowed technically inclined used to upgrade their V1's to V2.

Here's a list of general midi CC's, pretty sure this is what it uses:

Yup. It uses standard CC's in Mode3. But the other modes have other tricks up their sleeves:

Mode 1: Roland GS, Yamaha XG and compatible sound modules.
Mode 2: Creative Labs AWE32, 64, 64 Gold, Soundblaster Live! and Platinum soundcards.
Mode 3: Standard MIDI Controller numbers (Continuous Controllers 1‑13).
Mode 4: Roland JV1080, 2080, 1010, XP30/50/60/80.
Mode 5: Standard MIDI Controller numbers (Continuous Controllers 40‑52).
Mode 6: 'Classic' Mode (various Controller numbers).

I'm hoping it will play nice with my Roland XV-3080. :D

Virtual JV :o

Yeah, theoretically, it should get along well with Roland Cloud JV-1080.
