I guess it's semantics but i'd argue having the text-to-wavetable limited to a few words a day means you're not getting the full package for free. Paying for pro(?) and having unlimited TTW is 100% functionality.
But the text to Wavetable is just generating Wavetables, it's not the actual synth. You can even export them and import them into other Synths

discounting a part of the instrument because it doesnt fit your argument sound like moving the goal posts but whatever

Only it's not part of the instrument and the only one moving the goal posts is you

As I have always said the complete synth has always been free. The only thing people have ever paid for is extra content

That extra content includes Wavetables and Presets,

Those extra Wavetables you are paying for include Wavetables generated via text

The synth itself doesn't lose any functionality if you don't pay for those extras

But I get it you are backed into a corner and need to move the goal posts and pretend I am

Either that or you don't understand exactly what a synth is and how it works I don't know

No, the synth is free. What is in the paid tiers and subscription is other things like presets, skins, access to the text to wavetable service. Specific to subscription is early access to new features and updates. As there haven't been either for a long time, that would call into question the value of subscribing.
Is that in writing, I did a search and several blogs list it as 189 with no discounts and beside people here I cannot find where it says its free? Also there is this: https://github.com/mtytel/vital Which seems to be the source code which is also interesting. At this point I am more interested in the weird "money grab" technique than the actual synth. What will be so funny is if he releases v2, its next level and considered the best synth ever created (digital/analog) but its 189 with Ilok. lol

It's right on the product page

https://vital.audio/

You will notice it says of the free tier that it includes

"The full synth with all features, 75 presets, 25 wavetables"

You will notice the "Plus" version has

The full synth with all features., 250 presets, 70 wavetables

And finally you will notice the pro tier has "The full synth with all features, 400+ presets, 150 wavetables" and some other goodies

The synth itself has ALWAYS been free, I am not sure why people refuse to grasp that fact

Any money that changed hands was for extra goodies besides the synth itself

When the Free version includes "The full synth with all features" and always has its really not that hard

Note that the source code hasn't been updated since 2021. It's for Vital 1.0.6. The currently public release is 1.0.8. 1.5 has been in early access for about 3 years. Not really sure what's going on, but the project seems dead.

@IvyBirds @Largos Your right its on the website, my bad.

@FigBug Yeah I heard it was only the initial commit which makes it even weirder that it exists at all, I wonder if it even builds.

The no communication thing is a no go for me for all future and current releases but its still interesting to see how this all plays out. I mean, will he still be taking subs in 5 years, lol?

Why? It's a free synth that works beautifully in all major DAWs and operating systems

Are you expecting a card on your birthday?

The most recent update was just 3 weeks ago

If you get the sub does that include everything in the Pro option?

oh get over yourself, I agree with you 99%, its a fully functioning synth but the free version only has effectively the TTW functionality as a demo. Saying you get everything in the free version you get in paid is simply wrong, you are not getting that part of it full and unrestricted. If you want to argue the TTW isn't part of the synth then go ahead, the fact it's integrated into the oscialltor waveform selection would suggest it is to me but if thats a windmill you want to go after...

TTW is not a function if the synth itself

let me repeat that again because you seem to not understand how a synth works

TTW is not a function of the synth itself

The full synth with all of it's features has always been 100% free

How you make Wavetables to use in the synth is not a function of the synth and is accomplished using a different software based tool that is not the synth itself

It's really not that hard

The plus and pro levels for Vital include the full synth with all of it's features and EXTRA content like extra Wavetables and presets not included in the free version. You are paying for that extra content not the synth itself. That extra content you are paying for includes unlimited Wavetables you can generate via text if you so desire

So what is this thread about; a 'free' abandoned synth. :scared:
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

Yes, and how it still works. And is free. But there’s a paid version. And it’s abandoned. Or maybe not? It still works though. And it’s free. Unless you paid. :help:

The synth is free. You can pay for presets and wavetables and an outboard wavetable generator tool. I don't understand why a certain subset of people like to roam around threads like these inventing things to get mad at.
