What do you recommend as an EDM producer to get started with a large, high quality sound library that doesn't break your wallet? I think I would be interested in sounds and presets that I can compare via Xo or Atlas to find similar sounding sounds compared to my reference track.

Any recommendations are very much appreciated

Since EDM can refer to everything from big festival-styled anthems, to the quirkiest of Dubstep, Trap, DnB, Trance, House, and other mixtures and sub-genres, it would help if you posted a YouTube or SoundCloud link that has the kind of sounds that you're after. That could help to narrow down your search.

But to get you started, Black Octopus Sound has a sale going on from now until August 15th, where you can get 8 packs for $8. Most include samples, synth presets and MIDI, and are available at a massive discount. Take a look: https://blackoctopus-sound.com/product- ... sale-2025/

Wave Alchemy is another developer and content creator that has a massive 50 GB Sounds Bundle out right now. It includes 40 sample packs with over 180,000 sounds and loops, and covers a wide variety of styles to mix and match. Instead of nearly $1,800 for the entire bundle, you can purchase it for around $200. And their sound quality has always been pretty high, so I would definitely check them out too: https://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/product/sounds-bundle/ :tu:

Get one of the yearly bundles, for example this one : https://www.ghosthack.de/upb2025

Don't let the over-the-top marketing fool you. Their samples and presets are actually very good quality and used by everyone, from pro's to hobbyists.

Or get a Splice sub ofcourse : https://splice.com/

I personally found searching Google for free preset packs gives you a good selection and also allows you to try different creators to see if there are any you particularly like. Trimming the search to you synths will also help eg free serum presets etc
