Ableton added a native pitch correction (Auto Shift) which is scale aware, so I guess this has to come first...but it isn't the same as midi like editing offered by other DAWS or Melodyne (via ARA)
They're probably not avoiding it on purpose. They're a small company. Based on social media followers they're probably less than 1/10th the size of Ableton.

Also, I'd be willing to bet they will eventually add ARA-like features to the CLAP plugin standard they've been working on. Perhaps then we'll see a push towards ARA-like plugins in CLAP, and maybe plugin wrappers that can wrap ARA plugins and load them as CLAP.

Love the fact that no one at Bitwig is giving a fly*** f*** for the ARA nonsense. As if music and ITB did not exist prior to this nonsense.

Oooo buuuu oooo torch buuu ooo

gimme a break.

Great update, Bitwig. Just purchased 5 plan and installed 6 beta. Randomly, it crashed just by dragging their own preset to their own synth in a new session, but it's ok, it's beta, and I am sending crash logs.

I like the GUI improvements a lot.

A lot of fun and a lot of things to learn.

I'm really not sure if that is even possible. ARA does not work like standard plugins (whatever the format) - it has much more direct 2 way communication with the host that goes way beyond what a plugin can interact with.

Personally I don't use anything ARA so not that bothered but can see why some are

I do wonder if this is more about sandboxing and maintaining Bitwig's prized ability to manage its own audio threads and not mix them up with plugins and external devices. I suspect ARA doesn't easily fit that model (might also be a reason why Logic devs are being so slow)

I dunno; it depends - as is the case with all plugins - on both the host and the plugin. The Synchro Arts stuff is certainly unbelievably buggier.

rePitch and Pitchmap are two. They are "real time" effects but require a huge amount of lookahead/PDC, so they're not really real time.
Do you maybe confuse Repitch with another plugin? :?

Oh yes, forgot about Pitchmap :dog: - interesting stuff, but tbh I kind of lost interest in the Zynaptiq stuff a while ago because it always seemed to me as if it promised on paper a lot more than it can actually do in practice.

Not that it's the most important thing, but I'm glad that Bitwig finally looks proper without modding. It really was an ache for the eye.

I just had a look and it seems there is still no way to get rid of the effing orange. :-o

For the past 6 years or so, I've been begging Bitwig to hold of on the wizbang features and focus a major release entirely on editing. This is the release I've been waiting for. I now have almost no reason to use Logic anymore.

I sing the part again if I made a mistake. I try to avoid such manipulation, including comping where possible. Something is lost when doing a lot of "frankenstein-ing"

tumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 12:30 pm Amazing update. All of the things it added are useful for me, except scale highlighting, which I never use. But that's fine, I can just ignore it.
The scale highlighting could interest me as long as there is some way to add 'off' notes without disabling it.

What is cool for me is that the arpeggiator (and other note fx) can follow the global scale. Plus the global scale can be automated and even modulated.
It has both scale highlighting and scale snapping separately. Snapping can be toggled quickly with 'k' in order to add accidentals. Pretty well thought out IMO. Would be cool if they let you shift-drag notes into accidentals though

:tu:

The new Step Entry also lets me add off scale notes as well. It works quite well.

The new Automation Clips are so powerful!

I like that I can have midi clips playing on say Track 3. And at the same time, I can have Automation Clips on Track 3 in the Clip Launcher and trigger them separately from the playing midi clips in Arrange.

And of course I can have a Macro Knob controlling 6-8 parameters then have Automation Clips controlling that Macro.

I'm liking the sound of all this new workflow stuff. I may need to finally upgrade this software.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Can the v6 beta installed separately? Or it will upgrade the v5?
