Is it worth the discussion or is it just another FM synth ;)

edit: Ableton (aka Robert Henke) is very into this granular thing...

EnableSpread
Voicemanagement
Portamento set time
Frequency Key Scale
Lfo Freq
Envelope Serialiser
4 fixed frequency settings
Several waveforms
Phase selection on the waveforms
There will be 4 operators
FixedFrequency
Low quality and high quality algorithms
Coarse and fine velocity adjustment
Random panning
Key panning
Repeat time
loop mode
sustain level

and finally
MIDI ARPEGGIATOR!!!!!

edit: I see where you got the specs...via sweetjesus on the Abes forum. Seems as if he viewed the sourcecode.
Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good

Operator´s program code is included in the current 4.0.5. beta.

Price unknown yet (or part of the final update (free?) or addon)

edit: yes sweetjesus was the one to break the NDA 8)

envelope serialiser???

yes and there will be some general overhancements too
(GUI wise etc...)

I would assume the MIDI arp is an fx module and not built-in to Operator.....but we'll see.

What's cool about breaking software license agreements(and by the way he broke the EULA and not a NDA)? :?
If I were Abelton,I'd be royally(and legally)pissed off...

A spectral heretic...

No its good publicity for Ableton, it stirrs up the hype a little bit.

You can never have enough public attention.

Bah, I don't think they are pissed off. If it would have been a secret they would have never said that something new was coming. They wanted people to speculate. Anybody who owns it can download the beta and look it up. It's not like a private beta.

That's what started the whole thing about looking up the exe in notepad and finding stuff about the operator. If they wouldn't have said anything about a new thing, nobody would have know.
