In an Osc, underneath the Tune Knob (which you have set to Hertz) is the Frequency Mod Depth knob which has an input.ghostwhistler wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 9:30 am Also, another issue:
For example, I have osc 4 set to Hertz and its modulating the cutoff for filter 1. I want to be able to modulate the Hertz rate, but I can't see anywhere to connect it to a mod source, such as the Mod wheel. I could use automation just fine, but is there a way 'in house' to do it?
Thanks

Bazille is currently going for $59 at Plugin Boutique (and ACE for $32). I know that there are quite a few fans of this synth here, but I've not paid much attention to it. What are its main strengths? What sets it apart from a modular synth like Zebra, for example?
Also, does Bazille make ACE somewhat redundant? Is it worth owning both? Happy black friday.

Bazille allows a more flexible routing than Zebra. In Zebra, you cannot do arbitrary feedback loops like you can in Bazille. Bazille is also more flexible for audio rate modulations.SonicDimension wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 4:33 am Bazille is currently going for $59 at Plugin Boutique (and ACE for $32). Bazille has a unique sound quality at the cost of greater CPU use.
And it is worth getting Bazille and ACE. ACE is not redundant.

Old topic here, but I was wondering if there is a way to hide cables if you don’t need to seem them? Sort of a Cloaking device from Star Trek.
Some of the very complex patches have a ton of cables all over the place and it can be very confusing. Slightly color-blind here also, which doesn’t help.
EDIT: I just found the Undo/Redo, nvm:
(for that GearPorn skin is there Undo/Redo somewhere like the original has?)

I don't know if you want to buy a new skin or even would like it, but Tokyo Ghost is my favorite Bazille skin and has a marker icon that not only hides the cables, it hides the ports and changes a few things on the interface for a much cleaner experience once you're done patching.

If i remember correctly you can set the cables to transparent to make them less intensive...
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I've been experimenting with this for the past week. I'm really loving the phase distortion - getting incredible results from it by modulating it with envelopes and lfos. That would honestly be enough for a huge sound palette but there is also the fractalizer and four (!) multimode filters!
One thing I'd appreciate some tips on is phase modulation. Outside of quite subtle PM i'm struggling to get nice textures of of it. For example, on the dx7, a second order modulator on the 4th overtone generates a pleasingly thin metallic rattle that sounds like an electric bass string being plucked (BASS 1 preset). When I try the same thing on bazille I'm struggling to get anything other than an FM squelch.
What makes the dx7 produce these nice textures? Is it quantization somewhere? Perhaps the envelopes are quantised in a way that brings out a subset of harmonics?
I don't expect bazille to sound exactly like a dx 7 but I'm wondering if there are some tricks to get varied PM tones that I'm missing.
I've struggled to use the filters as modulators too, they seem to respond a lot more slowly than the oscillators to amplitude modulation and gate but that's not a big problem really, i rarely use more than 4 operators in FM/PM.

After another afternoon experimenting I believe I've got the hang of PM in Bazille! What I was missing is that you can use very bright modulators with pretty great amplitude - but you can't modulate them too fast. If you have an envelope going to fast you get a non-descript squelch using overtones above say 4. Slow, high amplitude bright modulators are getting me the crisp, brash textures I was looking for.
Next step is figuring out how useful the self-resonating filters really are in PM...
