Nope, thy SY-85 is a rompler. I still have the rack mount version, the TG-500, the sound module voted most likely to be confused with a pizza box.

Dear Sheaf :
Please think about a price for SWAY.
you made so much , years of research, and the emulation is SO NEAR the original.
Of course very very little tiny "variations", but very reliable for keeping the global "character" of each patch !
One FM synth can NO reproduce patch of on other FM synth.
i do own, now, a very close TG77.
You could implement, for example, somme "paypal donation" with a button, or something like.
Paypal is very simple.
i am sure many of us , here, will follow.
Think about other VST softwares' prices, take a average...
Have nice Day

Sheaf, how are you getting on with the beta test phase? A few words on the current status would be very much appreciated.

We've made great progress the past couple of months. A lot of bugs were reported and fixed. There are still some issues to tackle, but I think the next build is going to be in pretty good shape.
After the code for 1.0 is done I still need to make a lot more presets, sort out the webshop, do some marketing stuff, write a manual, so I think it's better if I don't speculate on a release date.

Aren't there any public domain presets you could add?
At least for pure AFM sounds.
Since you are not shipping with the original sample ROM, AWM based ones won't work without the ROM.

There are for sure. But to avoid any possible copyrights stuff, the factory presets will be made for scratch.oneOeight wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:16 pm Aren't there any public domain presets you could add?

Isn't this supposed to import Sysex from the SY77/TG77?phreaque wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 3:59 pmThere are for sure. But to avoid any possible copyrights stuff, the factory presets will be made for scratch.oneOeight wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:16 pm Aren't there any public domain presets you could add?

We don't really need a bunch of presets as there are already thousands upon thousands of them available online from the original units

You can import the presets you like.
For the factory presets, they will be original ones.
Usually it is a nice thing to have, people appreciate nice stuff.

Without the factory ROM-based samples. the SysEx presets won't sound anything like they're supposed to. And there are some people who aren't familiar with AWM synthesis, and they might appreciate a few presets to give them an idea on how to get the best sounds from the synth.IvyBirds wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 5:03 pmIsn't this supposed to import Sysex from the SY77/TG77?phreaque wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 3:59 pmThere are for sure. Sure but we don't need a bunch of them. The SY77 came with just 128 of them after allphreaque wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 5:07 pm You can import the presets you like.

Are the Beta Testers not actually doing any sound design? Did they not already have a bunch of patches from their own hardware SY77/TG77 usage?

Sure but that's already been addressed by the developer in this thread but if you want AWM2 sample based Synthesis there are several decades worth of Motif, MODX, and Montage presets floating around so you know what it sounds like.planetearth wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 5:09 pmWithout the factory ROM-based samples. the SysEx presets won't sound anything like they're supposed to. Realtime Convolution and Modulation Synthesis (RCM) in SY77 was unique but it's the FM engine that was the driver behind that
In theory the AFM parts should sound almost identical to the AFM parts in the SY99 hardware or at least as close as Dexed sounds to a DX7
again we don't really need a ton of presets on a synth like this, the original didn't have many after all

Here's one vote for skipping the factory presets.
