I own both, but only have Modwave installed. As long as Access is their true flagship, NI is waste of time and energy.
I get ya but so many of my libraries are on the Kontakt platform. I pretty much have to use Kontakt. NI's library manager loses track of content, including Massive X expansions, nearly every time I update it. I have no idea why. I rarely use Massive X so it isn't a big deal. But Kontakt stuff is important to me.

Not sure how Native Access is "jumping through hoops". Its easier to install/update things in Native Access then having to go and download individual plugins and then having to go back to the website to check for updates.

You should all just thank God it's not back to the endless DVD installation process. I think there were 6 for Komplete, possibly more of them. Took hours.

It’s alright

It actually took less time to complete the install then. Service Center and Access were/are only great at authorizing. And even that's been fouled by relegating things to "legacy" or complete deauthorizing of owned products. Access works for some and is a Komplete sh*t show for others. And NI relies on turning those it works for on those it doesn't. There use it be work arounds and NI has been diligent only in closing those and forcing everyone to put up with things they know will never work for the entire base. Because once they get the money but don't have to support it or allow the transfer of enough of the products and there by reduce their "technical debt" , it's simply a win-win for their financial holders. But not for complete customer base satisfaction.

Those lucky enough to have a good experience might want to accept the fact that their luck is provisional and that there's a growing number of us where that luck turned bad.
Accept that we're speaking from experience and that Access is the second worst thing that destroys trust in them.

The only reason I even scan these threads is a hope they might scrap Access and build something that works universally for everyone instead of doubling down on perfidy every chance they get. Until then, if they at least brought back the ability to download from our account and default to no data collection or otherwise not responding to customizations the software implies it does; it would at least be something.
But they really do seem to have a FU attitude towards the entire base.

That some align with that attitude in smug elitist indifference and are willing to verbally dismiss those that don't only exacerbates the dichotomy.

And with that, I've wasted enough time and energy and will go back to sometimes scanning these threads for any sign that NI are responding for all their customers.

And I've got a lot of NFR things with them and don't know if selling the whole account is even a viable solution...

The only thing I accept is that's your opinion and you're welcome to it. I've had my fair share of issues with Native Access over the years. It is not something that even rates as a life problem. Still works more often than not and it's still far easier than having to go to a website to download things individually.

Thoughts?
Well yeah, maybe. If how it's sounds isn't important to you...

Nah, it's surely quicker now if you have a good internet connection,.the libraries may be larger though.

What doesn't work you in Native Access?

Post

NI Access is ok if nothing breaks AND you don't step away too far from the "script".

Bought a bunch of orange tree kontakt instruments lately which are integrated in Access but you download them from the orange tree site so after downloading and entering the serial you have to locate every single library one by one.

And this isn't even the worst case. Imagine you have NI Komplete CE with its hundreds of instruments, all on a separate drive. When you get a new pc or you have to reinstall your OS for some reason you will have to locate every single instrument by hand, one by one. Or option B, you download them all again, which is no manual work besides starting the downloads, but it will take quite some time and of course it's a mindless waste of resources.

I mean it's 2025 why is it not possible to just thow a folder at Access and make it automatically search for all libraries within this folder? It's really not that hard. Stuff like this is what you do as a trainee to learn new languages.

Latest Ableton and latest MX freeze when I remove the plugin from a channel or when I delete the channel. What are all these people doing?

Post

I was having terrible trouble with Ableton Live 12 yesterday (Windows 11). In the end I had to redownlaod and install. It may be nothing to do with your issue but it just might.

Lmao I know that's the plan

@Aloysius did it help?

Post

Yes. I had tried everything I could think of first. The reinstall worked. I was having a lot of crashes.
