BFD 3.5 is frustrating

Background: I have owned BFD since 2006, i.e. 1, 2 and 3 generations.
I purchased 80 % of the expansions + Platinium sample expansions, 30 groove packs etc.
I.e. invested quite a lot of work and even some money in the product.
The fxpansion betrayal for the loyal customers was bad news, we all knew that from the beginning, but hoped the best.
After a couple of ownership change inMusic has led the "development" of the product.
The latest incarnation is the BFD ver 3.5 including the inMusic Software Center-1.33.1
The BFD 3.5 is politely said a fiasco:
-forced to re-install all the expansions - still 90 % of the expansion presets don't appear
in my BFD 3.5. and 40 % of the samples don't play at all.
-the BFD 3.5 "scalabe" UI in its smallest size is way to big to my laptop screen: the bottom 1/3
disappears, i.e. almost impossible to use. (And don't give me any advice of the computer
resolution etc., it is optimized).
I have made a ticket to the inMusic - they just keep sending me their standard instructions,
which, I have tried to expain them, don't work.
My studio desktop is a bit better but for my mobile laptop, Lenovo i7 32 RAM, 3TB,
win 11 Live 11 the BFD 3.5 is unusable.
Thank you inMusic, for ruining my 18 year work.

I didn’t update to the last update they released because I had heard of many issues with it.
Is there a way to get the last working version before the current one? I’m not sure if keep the last few versions ir not.

My plan was to keep the 3.4 but any new expansion forced to update to the 3.5, and the game was the over.
The last working version for me was 3.4, no return back.

Hi Harry,
BFD 3.5 requires redownload of updated expansion packs to work.
Kind regards,

Read my OP post once again: I wrote threre, as in my ticket to the inMusic, that I have reinstalled all the expansions. Still most of the presets won’t appear.Living Room Rocker wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:54 pm Hi Harry,

And I’ve done the total un- and re-installing three times.
Waisted 20h my valuable time this none- or half-working piece of garbage.
inMusic doesn’t seem to be willing to offer real help.
And I can tell about the UI issues, I experience these every time when I open the plugin in my laptop.
The 3.4 ver didn’t have this issue.
And the the issue whe the the plugin does the re-scanning of the content every timw when you open the plugin in your DAW - it takes extra 3-4 minutes every time.
inMusic has ruined a good product.

Hi Harry,
You didn't mention that you downloaded the updated versions. That's why I mentioned it.

inMusic Software Center-1.33.1 for
downloading and installing the product (BFD 3.5, core content and expansions).
As far as I know, the main idea of offering
the sofware center/download manager is, that
that is supposed to take care that 1) the latest versions are downloaded, 2) the installation is done in the corect way.
If the inMusic Software Center-1.33.1 is the one to blaime, none in the inMusic support have mentioned that.

This has already been discussed here. The updates for all of what I have, 16 or 17 at the release of 3.5, except for Core Library which has a couple of things which are not new added, drum cases and rock tambourine, are a tiny little graphic that effects no functionality of any kind whatsoever.Living Room Rocker wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:54 pm BFD 3.5 requires redownload of updated expansion packs to work.
Note, BFD3.5 is a major update for existing BFD3 users - BFD3, the Core Library and all Expansion content has received an update. This means BFD3 users must update all content/installers upon use with BFD 3.5.
Use of old content with BFD 3.5 will result in unexpected behaviour and is not recommended.
The difference between the newly downloaded libraries and the original will result in 'image not found' in Preferences/Content Paths Manager.
I don't know where this unexpected behavior assertion comes from, but that is the extent of the "behavior" if you don't download anew. After downloading a few of these, given the fact that it all worked as it always does and that I remembered the tiny iimage from the beta program, I'd prefer not to have hours wasted. InMusic's download app is shit. I bought one of the libs during that recent-ish sale and it would stall out any time I moved away from focus on it.
Harry's issues will not magically be fixed by downloading the so-called updates.

For example: the scaling issue. In the early days of me with the release of 3.5 all I had for a display was the 13.3" MacBook Air. It is unusable as such. This is no different with new downloads. Since I have acquired 27" displays and it's fine.
The scaling issue is compounded in VE Pro, the channel has to be undocked to even be visible at all, and if you move focus from it it's totally black again. When it is in view, scroll wheel is inoperative. IDK if there would be a perfornance gain in VEP and likely never will, it is literally unusable unless it's the single thing in the project you'll see, which pretty much defeats that purpose.
However, here it all functions very well in Cubase, and is significantly more performant. Unfortunately due to wild normalization disagreements and the fact of all my sort of templates from 3.4 are gone exposing this issue, it eats up a lot of time how I use it.

Thank you - how detailed specs are you talking about? The main issues in the 3.5 for me have been:newluc wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:44 pm Hi Harry,

I can check if you specificaly tell me what's wrong
-many of the expansion presets don't appear/play at all, including the 3.5 core library
-some samples don’t play at all
-some presets work only after playing the kit-level samples
-it seems that the Platinium samples authorization don’t work (this I can’t confirm yet, haven’t had time to do all the possible tests, but using these samples, which I have purchsed, give me time to time ”non-authorized alarm note”
-the BFD 3.5 "scalabe" UI in its smallest size is way to big to my laptop screen: the bottom 1/3
disappears, i.e. almost impossible to use. (And don't give me any advice of the computer
resolution etc., it is optimized).
-every time I launch the plugin, it starts the ”content rescann”, that black screen takes 2-4 minutes
These are issues in my Lenovo i7, RAM 32, 3 TB, Win11, Live 11.
BFD 3.5 and expansions all re-installed by using the inMusic Software Center-1.33.1
My studio desktop, which is Win 10 Live 11, works much better. I.e., this seems to be partly DAW dependent.

Hi,
I don’t have Platinium samples, but for the other things all working here. However, i keep trying things every time I will go in studio.
Hope I can help you.
By the way, I have three kits of Sonic Reality and things are working for them(third party kits).
Try contacting the developer, often is here at kvr (don’t remember the name, maybe someone know; could be Amberience or similar?)
