Because it’s true.

I deleted that POS from my computer after it cost me too many hours and too much hair, so good riddance.

Sadly, Amberience (Drew Vernon) is no longer with inMusic/BFD drums.
Amberience wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 11:51 am Hi all, just to let you know, I no longer work for BFD Drums or inMusic. Please direct all messages to the support team via this page: https://support.bfddrums.com/en/support/home

I can't assist with authorization requests and things like that anymore. Thank you!
Kind regards,

Yeah, I'm very sorry. But I'm no longer with BFD. I tried to make it a success. Failed. Management. No-one had any idea about software. No respect for the users. I had to get out. For my own sanity more than anything. Spent 18 years with BFD from FXpansion, to ROLI, to inMusic, and it just never got any better.

Again, I'm sorry. I really tried.

Really sorry to hear this. Your involvement was my last ray of hope that the ship would finally right itself.

Best wishes for your new endeavors!

This is what happens when private equity leeches take ownership of good products.

Is there a good product anywhere that private equity has acquired and actually made better? Is there one they haven't actively made worse?

Ah, man...Sorry to hear about that.

Without saying anything you can't, will there be ongoing development to at least get the current version completely stable?

Cheers!

Not defending the completely unacceptable issues people are experiencing but my experience with 3.5 has been the opposite.

3.5 is the most stable and performant version of BFD I've used. No issues with libraries, no crashes, very few bugs.

Previous versions were a nightmare to deal with. From missing libraries, having to jump through hoops to get anything activated to the crappy outdated GUI and buggy performance.

The only issue I have is the ridiculous license check every time the plugin is launched.

I'm on a mac M1 and use the VST3 version and AAX version.

Again this is not a "it's workng for me and f everyone else" post.

If anything it show how inconsistent and all over the place the support for BFD3 is and that they really need to get their act together.

I've long been a huge fan of BFD, but they bricked our 3.4 install which feels borderline criminal.

f**k BFD.

f**k BFD. InMusic
@funky lime, agreed, fixed your quote, peace.

@Amberience, as a full-time working musician/producer, your effort and commitment to a best-in-class product were truly appreciated. we were fine with it as is but the rounds of clueless drm and inept ui changes inflicted by InMusic have trashed any value for us. i'd love to bill them for all the unscheduled time spent on disaster recovery and lost productivity. it's a shame, but all we're left with is putting our investment and recommendations elsewhere.

all the best with your future endeavors.

I honesty don't know. I'm completely out of the loop, as it should be really. I'm just happy to no longer be involved.

Yeah, I really can't begin to imagine how hard it must be to be the public face - and oficially responsible person - (for/)of a product you love for so many years and do your utmost to improve just in order to fail because of business folks who could not care less.

Managers really are the bane of humanity. Typically superficial, clue- and talentless yet often self-absorbed or even outright narcistic scum who have the entirely unwarranted power to mess things - and even the lives - up for and of people who are superior to them (because that really isn't hard) in every possible way.

I haven't used it for months. I haven't updated to the latest version with all its problems, but today I tried to run BFD License manager and got an error message saying it was unable to process the request. So it thinks my license is invalid. :?

It was a pain, but I managed to find an install of 3.4.5(2023) to get it to work. Never again, 3.5! The kits themselves are old, but work great. A good kit is a good kit.

There was a quote on the BFD forum something like, "inMusic is the place where good software goes to die!"

Started with BFD2 around 2013 and never loved the interface. Went to SD3 with the amazing interface and ability to customize the kit rooms if you're handy with Photoshop. But the drums were always a touch processed compared to BFD3. I can make BFD3 work for me, fortunately.

Glad I'm not alone in the sentiment toward IM. :tu:

I wa just discovering some helpful old BFD3 video tutorials from Drew when I stumbled onto this info.

Wish you well, Drew @Amberience

Bummer about BFD and InMusic, Drew. But I hope you landed on your feet and are off to better things. I'm thankful you stuck with BFD as long as you did and tried your best to right the ship.
