Out now.
What's new:
- Stem EQ: separately EQ the vocals, bass, drums, and instruments in stereo bounce.
- Bass Control: Bass Control lets you balance low-end energy while enhancing balance, control, and punch.
- Unlimiter: Your new “undo” button for overly compressed audio, using cutting-edge machine learning to bring back lost transients and revive tracks transparently.
- Custom Master Assistant flow
- IRC 5 limiting algorithm

ozone 12 advanced is great, have been playing with it all morning, it's a worthy update from 11. the new starting points make far more sense, and features like the stem eq, and the unlimiter, are awesome. love this app!

Meh, stem EQ and unlimiter are pretty gimmicky additions IMO and I don't foresee myself ever actually having a real use for either. Not to mention I already have other tools (e.g., Flux) that can decompress audio, which I can't even recall using in the past 5 years or so. And, stem EQ? No, I'll go back and fix it at the source if it needs fixing. I can see where these might be useful if someone sends you a badly mixed/mastered MP3, but I don't see much use for my own projects where everything can be addressed at the source.
Bass control and some of the workflow enhancements seem good, but not worth a $199 upgrade price for Advanced to me. It would be nice if they would show a little more loyalty to customers who keep up with upgrades (e.g., Ozone 11 Advanced owners) and give us a bigger discount than someone upgrading from Ozone 5 or something. That said, I'll probably upgrade at some point, but I'll hold off for a BF deal or something for now.

i don't understand their upgrade pricing at all. it just gets worse every round.
i own ozone 11 advanced and the update to 12 advanced is $329.00 "From any paid Izotope product" and for 12 standard it's $149.00
makes no sense.
also, i have neutron 4 and the upgrade to neutron 5 is $199.00
they're basically pushing the music production suite 8 crossgrade which has a $344 crossgrade price and includes Ozone 12 advanced.
it's just stupid at this point. i don't even bother looking at their stuff really. i launch the product portal once in a while to check for updates and that's about it.

It's 199 to upgrade from any other Ozone advanced but that's still way too much.dayjob wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 6:07 pm i don't understand their upgrade pricing at all. it just gets worse every round.

Stem separation is everywhere and the other new features are kind of mid.
This is a 50 bucks upgrade at most.

upgrade from 11 advanced was $199 here. either way, ppl need to get paid for their work. also, the stem EQ is awesome, a great way to deal with eq or volume issues in a mix (especially when you don't have control over the original mix file).
it's not a cheap upgrade (or cheap if purchased new), but i have no regrets. i did 2 new masters of projects originally mastered in OZ11, and it's slightly better... enough to matter.

iZotope has been screwing customers with stupid crazy upgrade prices for years. I haven't bought their plugins for almost a decade now due to them being so greedy c**ts. And they don't even fix critical bugs when reported. Instead they fix them in the update and force you to pay. iZotope is one of the worst companies when it comes to these kinds of shenanigans. I absolutely loathe them and hope they go extinct.. just hope they don't drag NI and PA with them.

i've been using izotope plugins (ozone, vocalsynth, nectar, etc) for years, and will continue to do so. i totally disagree with you, but respect your right to not use their stuff...bmanic wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 8:31 pm iZotope has been screwing customers with stupid crazy upgrade prices for years. That's great that it's worth it to you and you obviously have uses/needs for the new features. I suspect I'm not alone, though, in saying that as a home studio musician/producer, I have no use for some of O12's coolest new features since I'm not getting paid to fix other people's old bounced-to-stereo files that may be over-limited and/or poorly mixed. But, if/when it goes on sale for, say, $99 or less, that's probably when I'll take advantage of the upgrade for some of the other features, if I don't have higher priorities. Or maybe I'll just wait and see what O13 has to offer.fisherKing wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 8:26 pm upgrade from 11 advanced was $199 here. either way, ppl need to get paid for their work. also, the stem EQ is awesome, a great way to deal with eq or volume issues in a mix (especially when you don't have control over the original mix file).

welcome to the new NI world owning Izotope. yeah they were always a bit pricey on updates, and there were some issues in v8 that took them time to fix, but overall it's a great product set. now that NI owns them expect to pay more, after all someone has to tell the stockholders we're making money with the acquisition... lol

There are better stem separators out there that cost way less.fisherKing wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 8:26 pm upgrade from 11 advanced was $199 here. either way, ppl need to get paid for their work. also, the stem EQ is awesome, a great way to deal with eq or volume issues in a mix (especially when you don't have control over the original mix file).

I could buy a third party stem separator AND a great eq for the price of the upgrade from 11 and still have money left over for ice cream...
It's extortionate nonsense from Izotope.

it's not a stem separator, per se... it simply allows you to change level or EQ for elements of a stereo mix... a nice feature.kraster wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 9:05 pmThere are better stem separators out there that cost way less.fisherKing wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 8:26 pm upgrade from 11 advanced was $199 here. either way, ppl need to get paid for their work. also, the stem EQ is awesome, a great way to deal with eq or volume issues in a mix (especially when you don't have control over the original mix file).

we can all use what we want; am happy with ozone (using it for years, now) and the new version is it's best yet. but, whatever works

Yes, the stem EQ certainly seems to be a much more efficient method than ripping the stems, EQing them, then re-exporting. Again, it's not a feature I need, but I'm curious to know how processor-intensive it is? Seems like it could choke a slower machine pretty easily.
