1) I will try to make it smoother on param changes
2) I have not tested the latest version in Studio One on Windows yet. Does the crash happen on intantiating or on Window open? the readme.txt in the zip has instructions how to collect Reverside's logs. could you please zip the log folder and send to me to: info@devproaudio.com

Definitely on instantiation, but I also think it happened trying to re-open the gui.
Other times it worked fine. Logs are on the way

This is sounding good.
At first I couldn't really hear the 3D or the geom pan - but when I turned up the wet mix I could start to hear it. It's still pretty subtle though.
I'll need to check the new manual as I'm not sure if the wall/floor/ceiling buttons are hard or soft when they're "on".
I'm still having some problems renaming or saving a new preset with a new name. Sometimes the KB is just dead in the field where you type the preset name. When I reload the plugin - it's usually OK (till the next time)
Windows 11/Reaper 7.45
For the notes to make 3D better:
While we're at it - the UI seems a little better, but there is still *a lot* going on here. There's still some redundancy on time and space tabs. I'm sure it's already been mentioned - but it might be a good idea to put some "simple" controls up front and then move to another "tab" or something for the more complex ones?
I'm mostly listening for rooms - but the sound is still good.

I'm not sure where you do this.b) you add a little bit of LR to output. this helps brains to extract the spatial info better

REVERSIDE build 0.9.6.b400 is now available.
VERSION 0.9.6.b400 CHANGES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Reverb engine, both ER and LR, has been re-implemented with advanced algorithms
for greater realism and naturalness, while streamlining the control structure to reduce clutter
- Early Reflections engine now includes a 3D spatialization system that
calculates directional cues for both the direct path and reflections based on
source/listener geometry
- Early Reflections now simulate distance-dependent high-frequency air absorption
for enhanced depth and realism
- VU Meter RMS readouts now display accurate values
- Various DSP code improvements and fixes
- Presets have been updated for testing
- Minor bug-fixes and UI refinements
REVERSIDE can now be used as a spatial placement tool, allowing you to position
instruments or tracks within a virtual acoustic space. The plugin calculates and applies
physically informed directional cues to both the direct path and early reflections,
enabling realistic 3D imaging.
If you are interested in beta testing, feel free to email me at: info@devproaudio.com
manual (html):

Mac/Win Demo versions (CLAP/AUv2) are available for download on the website.
VST3 version is not yet approved by Steinberg and remains out of public distribution.
If you require the VST3 demo, please contact Steinberg directly.
Demo Version Limitations:
- Preset saving is disabled
- Plugin state is not restored from DAW project files
- Only one instance per host
REVERSIDE is free for all 2CAudio and SpinAudio users.
Others can purchase the plug-in (AUV2/CLAP) now for 145 USD.
The future MSRP will be 195 USD.
Questions and feedback are welcome at: info@devproaudio.com
Guys, please share your opinion on the sounding of this new build.
The reverb algorithm has been almost completely re-coded.

Hi Denis,
The manual is getting so much better!
One question:
7.4.22 direct path mode
It says "Note: When [ON] or [3D] is selected, set MIX = 100% WET to avoid duplicating the dry signal. The
direct path is generated internally by the ER engine and should replace the input signal in the mix."
So does this mean, turn direct = OFF when using the reverb on a track? (ie not on a buss)
And only use Direct = ON or Direct = 3D on a buss?
It sounds like it should be the other way around - shouldn't it?
Later it says "Direct path: set [DIRECT] → [3D]; set MIX to 100% WET; use [D/R BAL] to taste."
But with mix = 100% there is always too much reverb even with D/R Bal = 100 and source right next to both mics.
I'm sure this is not a problem with the reverb - this is the operator not understanding how to use it
Something like this is the only way I can get the amount of reverb down when mix = 100%

Is this a sensible setting?

of course you can always add some dry signal but it will obscure the positioning effect by offsetting the stereo image.
you can control the direct path level vs reflections level with D/R control if you want to shift natural balance (0 value). and you have ER/LR. D/R is within ER only.

Even with D/R all the way over - it's still too much reverb (for my taste) when mix = 100%.2ca wrote: Mon Sep 08, 2025 7:50 pm of course you can always add some dry signal but it will obscure the positioning effect by offsetting the stereo image.

Do those settings above make any sense to you? They're giving me a sound like non 3D with mix around 15-20% - but I'm not sure if they're "ridiculous" settings
Please note - I'm just figuring out how to work this - not making comments on it. It sounds great.

when you have DIRECT=ON (or 3D) you basically have 4 sound *streams* to mix:
a) the dry signal (DRY)
b) late reflections (LR)
c) Direct path signal (a part of ERs ONLY when DIRECT is not OFF)
d) Reflections signal (a part of ERs)
D/R controls a balance between c/d, also you can control d) level indirectly via Decay/Abs
So if you do not need reflections you just want to spatialize direct path simply set D/R to 100
or you can use low number of reflections along with fast decay (and set ER/LR balance to 0)
however for better results it's recommended to:
a) either mix in some LRs or
b) add some extra reflections by using ER Diffuser module (but not much)
an acoustic space without some diffuse reflections just does not sound natural to brains.
Or if you goal is to get some spatialization of reflections and use Reverside in traditional reverb setup when you have some dry signal present (mixed inside or outside(send mode) of plug-in) then you can use DIRECT=OFF, REFL 3D = Q1/2/3, however in this case the brains will be missing primary cues to infer sound position.

Hi Denis,
I'm doing this here (rather than emails) in case anyone else is confused like me
So
I set D/R BALANCE up high to keep some reflections down.
I'm just using a small room approx 7.5m x 10m - but the LR really affect the sound with WET=100%. I have to set LR gain very low on the mix page.
I guess I just have to get used to a new way of thinking about reverb settings for this. I'm used to ER and LR being set around the same and I always thought that all ER went through LR (so ER -> LR = 100%) in real life.
Thanks for being patient
One more thing - every time I change something on the mix page, the OUT goes down to -1.54 db. I'm trying to get it to stay at 0db (to match levels with and without reverside) but it won't.

No, let's say I want to really understand what I'm doing. I'm looking for a "realistic" room sound - so that will have spatialisation, reflections, ER and LR.Or if you goal is to get some spatialization of reflections and use Reverside in traditional reverb setup when you have some dry signal present

when WET/DRY is 100% no dry(plug-in input) signal is mixed. if Direct=ON you will have dry signal as part of ERs. in this case this direct signal goes through a delay that depends on src/dst arrangement. (if it's symmetric, L path length = R path length) then there is no delay at all (except pre-delay), if Direct=3D then the signal gets extra processed with some 3D-HRTF like filter using the actual incidence dorection (elevation/azimuth) of L/R direct path which provides extra spatial cues to the brains.
