PPG Wave 3.V - Version 2

I had hoped there would have been re-write of the filters etc, I would think that after how many years (I got V2 in 2005???) that it would be due for a sound engine overhaul.

V3 was THE re-write, MANY years ago.

Wavetable import AND editor can't be a free update.

Use a smaller monitor, 15-17 inches is OK.

All they did was port that from the Microwave Plugin. I already own that and the V3 plugin. This absolutely should be a free update

But the reality is this whole V3 is obsolete even with the update because the Microwave Plugin blows it away for vintage "PPG Wave" Sounds

The whole Waldorf software product line is obsolete because it tries to recreate hardware products from 20+ years ago and those products had technology which was not that good in the first place, but great for the times (e.g. bad interpolation between wavetables which results in clicks when modulating the wavetable). This has already been done much better by other companies that are not trying to do 'vintage digital'. But if you have e.g. PPG 3.V and have been using it in many projects, and are still using it, it would be far from obsolete for you, as I'm sure is the case for many people. This update is for the real users of this plugin, not for the tinkerers. It is great that Waldorf thinks for its old customers. Thanks, Waldorf!

I was excited to see this update in my inbox, but am shocked that they would release a paid upgrade with blurry zoom and not real scaling. Who does that? It's embarrassing for the company. Guess I'll pass on the update until they do real scaling. I was thinking they would actually improve the editing panel but it seems the same.

I can bring those wavetables into any number of synths and get all the wavetable editing and whatnot that I could ever want.

I have never found the full set of wavetables from a PPG. Where did you get your set from?

I have graphic issues in Cubase Pro 14 on M2 Studio (slowing down the Cubase's Gui-Meters, etc...), poor Synth Gui and sizing abilities.

As far i remember, sample import (with some editing abilities) already was in 3V before.
(The only thing will see how it renewed for now)

It seems, stay at old version becoming tradition for Waldorf plugs. Unfortunately.
I'm big fan of Wave 2V (and old Waldorf Edition 2 bundle in general). And fortunately Wave 2V was updated once in very good way (in 2015 https://www.kvraudio.com/news/waldorf-a ... on-2-28765). Tnx Waldorf for that.

Musical instruments do not become obsolete, though they may go in and out of fashion.

I bought the Waldorf bundle when it came out... in fact, I still own the CDROM it came on. Is that "old customer" enough for you? I do not think it's a great update for many reasons.

Poor UI scaling (unacceptable in today's day and age, should have been done with vector graphics, or at least higher DPI bitmaps) Also, the PPG Wave is notorious for having a cryptic interface, and sticking with that design isn't doing anyone any favors. Look at how they emulated the Microwave 1, without having to mimic the look of the original hardware.

Not much added. OK, wavetable import is good, but we can edit wavetables on so many other applications that it is really nothing special to add it. What about things like MPE? More distortion types? More filter modes? Wider effects selection with classic effects emulations built in? This is what Arturia does. Look at how they did Prophet-VS V and be more like that. What about more modulation sources? Wouldn't a function generator be cool?

I'd have easily paid $100 for an update like that, but I'm not interested in what they did for $30. This plugin is maybe OK... for tinkerers.

I'm honestly not sure. I got them so long ago that I don't remember. They were on some site of free wavetables from sources all over.

Hhmmm, yikes... think I'll just stick with the excellent MicroWave One plugin for vintage wavetable (and Hive 2 + Dune 3 for modern).

Between the Microwave 1 plugin and the Blofeld Plugin I really feel I have the entirety of Waldorf Wavetables Covered and this is from a guy who loved the hardware

I'm just glad they didn't sabotage the GUI like they did with Largo 2.
