The SSL bus compressor is a classic design, and it is very easy to use, and The Glue likewise is as well. Everything is just a different flavour of good, which is why people love using it! The same goes for all popular analog compressors, unlike a lot of digital ones they are a huge sweet spot because of not just how they are designed, but how analog electronics have a lot of give and take to make them bend when pushed hard instead of break.Tao Jones wrote: Wed Jul 16, 2025 8:58 pm Just bought the glue and the scream. So awesome to have these! Is it me or is the glue really easy to use? Testing out the drop right now, going to buy it when I can. Really looking forward to the glue v2!!!

An 1176 model is down the line, hopefully in two years time depending on how long the synth takes. I am in a position now where I can do a full transistor level model of an 1176 with reasonable cpu, which is going to be incredible. The bias knob is just one of many tweaks that will be possible to destroy the sound in different ways when I do a detailed model.masterhiggins wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 4:12 am What about a replacement for the ChanComp? That simple bias knob really did change its character a lot. I haven't used another 1176-style compressor like that before. I've also never used another delay like Bloom since Fxpansion went tits-up.![]()
Credit to the FXpansion team for Bloom. Although some of my DSP may have been used for the filters and chorus type effects I think they wrote all the delay algorithms themselves.

We had an email list but it was filled in by a bunch of bots so we cancelled it. We now only email customers that have bought a product, and so we know they are a real person, sorry! I will post new product updates on kvr, gearspace, facebook, and bluesky.Greenstorm33 wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 12:57 pmDo you have a mailing list? I couldn’t find one on your site, but if you release a synth I’d definitely like to know so I can try it.andy-cytomic wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 12:39 amDon't worry, I'm already working on a synth behind the scenes, and I've already got some very tasty stuff cooked up for it.Frantz wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 4:34 pm While I appreciate all of the effort that goes into this, I would prefer a Cytomic synth over more updates to the existing plugins.

Ah. I don’t do social media and will probably be trying to kvr detox in the near future which is why I asked. Oh well, if you do release something I’m sure I’ll find out about it eventually.andy-cytomic wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 11:34 amWe had an email list but it was filled in by a bunch of bots so we cancelled it. I’ve been really digging The Drop and Scream plug-ins. So much so I was thinking about picking up Glue, even though I most definitely don’t need another comp.
Just looking through this thread though, I see there is a v2 on the way and that if I buy v1 with the returning customer loyalty discount I’ll have to pay the discount difference to upgrade to v2. So, what if I wait for v2 to come out, will I be able to use the loyalty discount on it?

Thanks for letting me know this. I want the situation to be that it doesn't matter financially if you buy now or later so I'll have a think about how best to tackle this.htothehza wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 3:40 pm I’ve been really digging The Drop and Scream plug-ins. News: The Glue v1.8.0 is available for download. You will need to refresh your authorisation if already authorised on your machine, this will re-use your existing authorisation and not change your authorisation count.
The Glue v1.8.0 (29 Aug 2025)
https://cytomic.com/product/glue
• New: Stereo Link knob added, at 100% (the default) The Glue sounds identical to older versions, at 0% compression becomes dual mono, and other settings have a blend of the left and right signals contributing to the right and left envelope detectors.
• New: Undo and Redo added.
• New: User interface widened to make room for undo and redo buttons.
• Fix: Defensive clearing of oversampling buffers now forced upon commencing processing to workaround possible bug with multiple instances with high oversampling amounts in the same project.
I was sorting out this algorithm for The Glue v2, and it was actually easier than I thought to implement, so I thought it would be a nice addition to The Glue v1 too. Enjoy!

I don't think he ever said that v2 would be free for V1 owners.VSKZ wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 8:56 am I just bought The Glue, hoping to get v2 for free soon, as you said, Andy.
Edit: Apparently it can be free under certain conditions, see posts below.

Constant development, maintenance, support, and improvements need to be paid for. Especially if a company is run by a small number of people (or a single one). If someone doesn't like it, get over it and feel free to use v1 in the same manner forever. Have a nice weekend.

I don't see any pitchforks or torches. In any case I have edited my post. Last time Andy mentioned a 30 euro update fee, but that no longer seems to be the case under certain conditions. Very generous of him.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 8:35 pmandy-cytomic wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 6:10 am The Glue v2 will be a free update to all those that bought The Glue v1 from Cytomic for USD 99, and for those that got a discount off their purchase from Cytomic they can pay the difference up to USD 99 for the upgrade.
