At c. 0:40 in the clip the voiceover says: ”Don’t worry about your licenses on computers you haven’t migrated yet. Your plugins will still work on them for a period, so you can migrate them whenever you’re ready.”

For a period? That sounds to me as if staying on the current version (old licensing system) might not be an option. Am I hearing this the wrong way?

I have absolutely no problem with a developer tightening his licensing - system against Piracy. My main concern is that it now forces to call home every 30 days. And NO! not every producer is online the whole time anyway, thats just not how it works.

Very disappointing development...

Mario has just posted this as a comment on the video.

Okay! I see that the 30day offline grace period was a mistake on my part, and I take responsibility for it. So I'll publish a new version of CG and HB as soon as possible, making the offline mode unlimited, just like brands such as iZotope or Native Instruments do. This way, we'll return to the original system, but with the added benefit that users will now be able to manage their licenses directly.

On the one hand kudos for fixing his mistake.

On the other hand it's insane that he thought this was a good idea and that backlash was needed in order for him to reconsider his approach.

Eh, cool reversal and no need to dwell on the contentious decision that's now history. Nice one Mario.

That's not how trust works, but I get your sentiment.

He's just a music SW developer, I've not got him in looking after my cats :)

Sensible conclusion to the issue.

Thank you Mario, this is much appreciated!

Good the decision was reversed...would have done more damage to his business than piracy
