Looks like a quite powerful system. Can't help but think it would have been extra cool if they added the Octatrack Scene A/B + fader system. Then again, with the 4 outputs of this thing it pairs very nicely together with the octatrack.

I’m on the fence on this one. This seems like everything I want, but despite push 3 not having the Elektron workflow, it does all this and more, so not sure I can justify it.
I think I’ll bury my head back into Syntakt and pretend I made up my mind not to get it.

Quite a few omissions and shortcomings it seems. Yeah no.. I lost interest after watching the Loopop video. I'm actually more intrigued by what AKAI is doing with the soon upcoming MPC Live 3 which should be around the same price bracket (probably a bit more expensive).

So, Octatrack and Digitakt II had a drunken evening together and forgot to bring protection?
I've only read the product description and on paper it looks great, but not for me. I've just never been big into sampling workflows, but this seems like it will sell pretty well for people who are. Pretty impressive specs.

They don't even have sample slicing on a flagship sampler... but the Digitakt II received sample slicing recently. Why the segmentation? I'd rather use my Ableton Move and Push.

Nothing in common with Octatrack - it doesn't do live recording/looping. And no crossfader.cryophonik wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 8:43 pm So, Octatrack and Digitakt II had a drunken evening together and forgot to bring protection?

agreed ! ....to me, nothing similar to a OT at all.
but i can see how it could become a DT killer for some. For me probably.
Just, i nolonger use HW. BUT: i´m working on new studio furniture and hope to setup soon a new HW-hybrid setup. Only for drums and percussion stuff. HW and ITB mixed. Sequenzing only from HW.
In anticipation of having a new studio in 6 weeks or so,....i jumped.
I´m an idiot

I'm referring to the larger form factor and general appearance... and I wasn't really being serious.Fiscally4706 wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 10:20 pmNothing in common with Octatrack - it doesn't do live recording/looping. Yeah if you like working with the new MPCs it's definitely a powerful alternative. I couldn't dislike them more. Looks perfect on paper - dreadful workflow. I owned four of them and I just couldn't gel with them at all. The Elektrons stay though. I guess it's about how you like to work.bmanic wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 8:15 pm Quite a few omissions and shortcomings it seems. Yeah no.. I lost interest after watching the Loopop video. No time-stretch or granular either. But that's how Elektron always have operated. v1 is usually just the fundament. After that comes the more advanced stuff.Fiscally4706 wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 10:19 pm They don't even have sample slicing on a flagship sampler... but the Digitakt II received sample slicing recently. Ummm, I really want to like it. Subtracks, 256 step patterns and real multi-sample support would be amazing... but this smells like a vehicle for third-party sound packs. Nothing wrong with that but it's not for me. I'd love to see support for an open source sample mapping format like sfz, to make it easier to edit and move around large sample sets. I'd also like to see Recorder machines, sample slicing and time stretching implemented in a way that it can controlled by P-locks.
I imagine things will change with firmware updates. I haven't done the early adopter thing with Elektron since the A4mk1. I mean their stuff is usually solid at launch but it may turn out to be a totally different machine a year from now.

I thought the same. I thought this was like the Elektron version of Nords sample library expansions, which is damn solid actually. Curious to hear the Elektron expanders coming out for this thing.justin3am wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 3:31 am but this smells like a vehicle for third-party sound packs.

Elektron's not the same company anymore. A recent example is the Digitakt II where there were numerous bugs on launch. Mono sampling was added a year later. Digitone II had its own problems.justin3am wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 3:31 am I imagine things will change with firmware updates. I haven't done the early adopter thing with Elektron since the A4mk1. You should wait a few updates before purchasing a Tonverk... or better yet put that money on an Ableton Push/Move instead.
