Hello. I need La2A compressor. I know about UAD, but I don't want to use Ilok. So, I am thinking about NI vintage Compressors. I know it's old. I am on Mac m series. What's your thoughts about these compressors? Maybe any great alternatives? BTW I have Pro-C2 and U-HE Presswerk. I am thinking to buy Neold U2A... or maybe I can go with old NI vintage compressors? the great things regard NI is that is also 1176 and 160. What's your thoughts?

I like DMG TrackComp 2. But warning, it's a modern interface.

I've used the NI la2a many times on vocals, works just fine

Never really heard anyone mentioning those NI Compressors as their main Go-to for an LA2A. Then Presswerk also should have an Opto mode, same with the 160 and the Urei. Maybe you already got everything you asked for, in very good quality. Can also recommend the NEOLD, which while having quite a bunch of Opto's, still is offering a different kind of flavor.

I noticed the NI ones are made by Softube. Probably not the worst choice then.

I use the NI/softube vc2a pretty much whenever I want that style of compression (vocals and keys). I'll sometimes use the waves one, but only when CPU is an issue.

Don't buy into that. UA Connect pops up here when I open my DAW maybe once every couple months. So what? People will seriously complain about anything. What they're actually mad about is that UAD plugins have never been cracked.

I was used some if they free plugins one year ago. It was on Ilok plus UA protection. Honestly not the best option for the computer. And I personally don't like the glitch on the first load. Maybe now it's better?
