Regarding MOTU, many of their interfaces (including my 8pre) will constantly crash if you try to run them at 96khz. It might be best to avoid the 16A.

Easy as can be to run the Digiface + Pulse 16 at 96khz. Just a few optical cables, though!

How many mixes/submixes and aux send/receive do you need?

In past I only used submixes for headphones so not that many. I currently do not have many fx which would go to aux channels but it is something I would need to think about for a future. So just want to hook up TR8s, Nyborg 12, Pro-1, Kobol expander, Minilogue xd, 101, Crave maby couple others to easy playing and connecting to DAW for "one knob" recording. 8 input interfaces does not seem to be enough.
