Hey everyone,

I built urlEQ, a tiny browser audio equalizer with what I'm convinced is the most beautiful real-time audio analyzer in existence. 🔥

I got tired of the frustrating and inconsistent sound of browser audio when referencing tracks, so I made this.

Here’s what it actually does:

🔥 Per-URL Memory: Save unique EQ settings for any webpage. urlEQ detects where you are and instantly loads the right curve for that specific URL. Your EQ for a YouTube track is saved for that track only.
🧠 Live Interactive Grid: All your saved URLs automatically appear in an interactive grid that works like a playlist. Search through your list, paste new URLs directly, or let it auto-detect - then click any tile to instantly jump between tracks during live performance.
🎧 Global Profiles: Instantly switch between different EQ profiles for your main monitors, your headphones, or laptop speakers.
✨ (and of course) The Analyzer: It's not just beautiful, it's a real tool. See exactly what you're hearing and adjusting in real-time.

It's tiny (300kB) and there's zero setup.

nice idea, but i tried the live-demo and it's unusable... getting seasick with that moving background image. not sure why it's necessary. or you just want it to look fancy?
still feeling dizzy 3min after i closed the window. sorry, it's one of the worst ideas i saw recently.

Hey audio/fault,
You're absolutely right, and thank you for the direct feedback. My apologies that the background animation on the website caused you discomfort.

You've pinpointed a major design flaw. The goal was to make the site visually interesting, but if it's causing motion sickness, then it's a terrible user experience and I've failed. Usability has to come first.

Based on your feedback and similar comments from others, it's clear the animation is too aggressive. I'm making it a priority today to redesign it to be much more subtle and static.

I'll post an update here once the new version is live.

Thanks again for calling it out. This is the kind of feedback that leads to a better product.

Alright, the update is live.

@audio/fault and others were right, the background animation was way too aggressive.
My apologies for that.

I've pushed a fix that does two things:
The animation is now smooth and transitions gradually instead of jumping instantly on scroll.
The overall brightness has been toned down.

It should feel much better now. I'd appreciate it if you could give it another look.

On a side note, I'm trying to track down a separate potential issue with audio routing software (like Audio Hijack) on macOS.
For anyone who had issues: what browser were you on (Chrome/Safari), and were you running any tools like that in the background? Any info would be helpful.

By the way, there’s a thread about Macs on GearSpace too:

Hey everyone,

I'm back with a huge update and want to thank you all for the interest in this thread. The feedback from communities like this has been invaluable.

I'm proud to announce that we've hit two critical milestones for trust and quality, both officially from Google:
  • We are now a Verified Publisher. This is a crucial security step. It means Google has verified my identity through official documentation, confirming that the extension comes from a trusted source.
  • Our extension has earned the 'Featured' badge. This is manually awarded by the Chrome Web Store team after reviewing the extension for high quality, a great user experience, and its overall usefulness.
To top it all off, I've also launched a YouTube channel.
