A remark about WaveRazor and Miniraze

First off, I am a happy owner of both WaveRazor and Minirazor, I find their sound really excellent!

My remark has to do with the way some knobs are scaled. For example, I find the scaling of envelope times to be a bit unusual, giving a lot of prominence to long times, as if they were linearly scaled. Would it be possible to add a menu somewhere that lets the user chooses the scaling (linear, log, exponential) so that backward compatibility with presets is not broken?

Cheers

Thanks for the nice words! I agree with your knob scaling issue, especially with the Envelopes in Miniraze. I would prefer to just get better ranges on the right things than to add a scaling preference, as that could be a solution for some things and make other things worse.

Also note that you can hold CTL (Mac) or ALT(Win) to use the Fine Adjust mode on any knob. Your comment makes me wonder if another key combination could be used for the lin/log/exp behaviour though... that is maybe an interesting idea.

Other than the Miniraze Envelope knobs, are there are others that bother you in particular?

I am working on a Miniraze update at the moment, and am changing the nature of those envelope knobs to give more range to the smaller values.

Cheers!

You guys should make a drum machine. imho :)

Hi Rob,

great! I have a few more ideas actually, not sure how much work they deserve though :)
- I think it would be great to be able to copy the settings of one oscillator to another one.
- This one is more a feeling than something tangible (and may be related to the knob scaling issue), but I find that the effect of modulators is only heard for high values of the route amount. Also, sometimes, I wish the amount could be set to higher values than the current limit.

That is all for now! Looking forward to the update.
Cheers

And another one, a visualization of the LFO waves, especially because I cannot figure out how quantize affects the waves (I understand its principle though)

- Copy Modules in Waveraozr has been a long standing request. And it will arrive someday ;) -- I agree it would be useful.
- LFO visualization has been in Waverazor for a while, so you can see how polarity/quantization/etc affect the waveform. However, there is no visualization in Miniraze at this point.

Thanks for the comments!

Note that Miniraze v1.5 has been released, and the Envelope Times and LFO Rate knobs are now scaled for better ranges, as suggested originally in this thread.
