Say I want to take an old track that has tempo changes, and some drawn out slower sections and gaps in the track, what works well for this?
Also, if the tracks is like this, should I be chopping the track into sections before trying to align?
My end goal is most of the track at a single tempo, and having the odd cuts available as samples.
Anyone have any good approaches to this?
Anyone here have any thoughts on if there is any DAW that is better than other for aligning tracks. (I have Bitwig, Cubase, reaper and Live).
(Bitwig has seemed a bit tricky, though I wonder if partly I just need to pre process the track first just sort out alignment before trying to work with it in a project)
Many thanks

Have you tried the Cubase-Warp tool?
With this tool, such tempo adjustments - even if they are fiddling - can be made quickly.

I had been trying to find transients but it wasn't working. Just doing it manually but I seem to be making some progress.
The track I am trying to align seems quite tricky with what seems to be extra notes between sections, and not very good for finding transients - so it seems a good track to persevere with to learn the manual warp process.
It having the track in its own warp project makes it a bit simpler to handle.
Do you think it's also worth splitting tracks into seperate sections when doing this processing?
Cubase is keeping the sound quality pretty intact. The warping, against a click, is pretty good, but I probably need to refresh some navigation short cuts as the general moving around, restarting audio play seems very clunky coming from Bitwig...
