When was the last time you did you walk into a meadow
of flowers? In our current song, it's Derrin 🚶 who has this
experience. And ... the meadow of flowers isn't just a
"simple meadow":

Enjoy! 🚶

PS: If you like - we have 3 questions about this song:
  • Does the trumpet fit this song? Or does it dominate too much overall?
  • Is the overall feeling okay – or is the song too loud and too compressed?
(The Loundness LUFS-I is -10.2 dB)
  • Does the image animation fit the song? Or is the image animation rather distracting?

This song is definitely a positive resonance in the field(projected me into a higher dimensional space:)

Mix is solid; the trumpet works fine for my ears; the dynamics felt fine to me, so not over compressed imo. I love the character illustrations.

I'm not on my normal monitors, but I did feel a few times that the trumpet needed a little more tail in the reverb to make it flow with the other instrumentation a bit better. It's something I probably wouldn't have noticed if you didn't ask the question about the trumpet and like I said I'm not on my normal monitors so take that for what it's worth.

Great, upbeat and catchy song. The title could mean a lot of things, and if you hadn’t mentioned the meadow, I would still be guessing. Sometimes it’s better to let the listener paint their own picture. I can’t comment on the animation because I had my eyes closed as I listened. The song is well written. It sort of sounds a bit familiar, but not. If that makes sense. It was a new song for me and I enjoyed it. I like the way you included the trumpet. It’s a familiar instrument and I think it fit perfectly well. The band sounds well rehearsed and it sounds like you pulled it off in one take while it was still fresh. The bass player reminds me of McCartney in that he keeps it solid most of the time but adds a few tasty bits at just the right time. The whole production sounds great in my headphones. I should probably go back and watch the visual, but I am from the days before MTV and the whole video thing. I just like listening to the music with my eyes closed and make my own video. Nice track. Make more. Have a good one!

Well done nice song. I liked the arrangement and sounds.
The trumpet isn’t too loud and fit well on song. The mix/master sounds well balanced on my headphones.

Enjoyed the listen - very catchy!

Does the trumpet fit this song? Or does it dominate too much overall?
It's effective for me - not used too much at all (then again, I am a trumpet player) :)

Is the overall feeling okay – or is the song too loud and too compressed?
Didn't bother me at all (and I'm damned fussy about such things)!

Does the image animation fit the song? Or is the image animation rather distracting?
I listened at first without the video on screen (I always do with new songs). With the video up...it seemed to fit the quirky mood for me.

This is one of your best songs, Andy. I also think it's one of your best mixes.

The trumpet is great. You could have used a synth, but I think the trumpet sounds more "at home" in this song, especially with the strummed guitar. The song sounds a little louder than my usual listening material, and certainly louder than my "ambient" stuff, but not uncomfortably so. I was listening at a reasonably high volume on my monitors ('cos the family were out), and it sounded good to me.

The video was fine, although I was paying more attention to the music. I was happy to see that you shut the gate.

Good work :)

Ah eassae, thank you for listening and for your words.
And thank you for your words about embedding the trumpet:
That was indeed very difficult because the recording had
crazy dynamics at the beginning. At first, we thought, "Is this
even possible?" But it doesn't seem to have turned out as
bad as we expected.

Yes, and maybe the trumpet here is mixed a little too dry,
we'll take a closer look at that. :D

I really like the trumpet. Very nice melody. It supports the song well. The level and dynamics are good listening on headphones. I didn't listen on speakers yet.

I'm enjoying the lyrics. Note: the lyrics sheet uses the word "cover" in the first verse, but the word "travel" is sung in its place.

Thanks for the i to the power of i document. Nice explanation and some funny lines too! A great presentation overall: song, lyric sheet (with pictures!), i to the power of i document, and animation.

A question about the controls on the website: play/pause and stop all work. But the back button doesn't seem to do anything at least in the Edge browser (didn't test other browsers). What is back supposed to do?

1. it fits, it sounds perfect. didn't stand out too much at all.

2. it is quite a bit compressed, but it feels kinda good. maybe a bit less compression could breathe more, but it seems to be the sound you go for here.

3. haha i didn't really catch my attention on it so much, i rather listened to the music in the background to be honest.

all in all, i like it!

enroe,
Thank you for the review! I am a fan of Einstein (an amazing genius), and he was surprisingly funny. Your song is pleasant; I like it. The trumpet seemed appropriate to me; some of the notes were slightly too loud for me (since you asked). Per usual, your vocals remind me of Bowling For Soup (good). The melodies are nice. I thought the audio quality was good; I didn't think it was over over-compressed. Ending was somewhat abrupt. I thought the video was nice, even if some of the images were kind of random; though that's hardly unusual for a rock video. Nice song and video!

It seems like you are attempting to unlock the mysteries of the universe with music, math, and mysticism. I love the song and the ideas around it.

The trumpet is an excellent, fresh addition to this song. It could have been a touch louder with a bit more reverb to really highlight it but it worked very well as is.

The mix is just right and not too loud.

I decided not to look at the animations. I listened to the song several times, read the lyrics and started studying the i_power_to_i.pdf and started experiencing sensory overload. I might have to reboot my brain if I start looking at animations. :help:

Thank you Pauliworld - for your very kind and encouraging
words.

Yes, you're right: We recorded the song in a relatively short
time. The trumpet parts, however, took a relatively long
time — and we were a bit deaf there, because the trumpet —
like distorted guitar, actually — is extremely loud.

We also really appreciate it if you listen to the song with your
eyes closed - so you can concentrate completely on the song
itself. The song is in the foreground - and that's what this is
primarily about.

Briefly on the topic: Of course, we'll call it a meadow. But it
remains completely open what kind of meadow — perhaps a
completely abstract field — it is. So here you can develop and
cultivate your very own ideas. Everyone can develop their own
ideas. :)
