Thanks. I had a look and didn't find that option. I guess it's no bother to move notes manually in the piano roll :)
Perhaps the Bass note option is what was meant; a chord with an alternate bass note is similar to a chord inversion.

That is useful too.

I was just looking at a way to cycle inversions of a triad chord. I'll stop being lazy and do it manually, lol.

Harmony Wizzard is really helpful in general and imho must-have for every S1 user working with the PR editor...
It´s really not that expensive for what it offers... :tu:

I second harmony wizard being an essential tool for those who are huge into the piano roll. I use the select voice of the chord feature a lot for moving around notes in chords to create inversions for example and when I say this is a huge time saver it's a huge time saver.

Just curious, what are S1 people wanting going into a future update? From my perspective all that's missing is modulators and I speculate that Gregor at presonus has been pushing for these for years so hopefully it won't be long. But what is on your wish list?

automation clips, that is all. Modulators would be a bonus but I'm not holding my breath for it at this rate.

Here's a few that have been rattling around in my noggin...

1. A complete Browser breakdown and rebuild
2. File Management Enhancements (naming templates/wildcards)
3. Make the built-in Templates actually do something
4. Bring MIDI editing to the same class as Cubase and Logic.
5. Are you gonna actually DO something (anything?) with the Launcher - please.
6. Do something with the new NI V2 S-Series DAW Integration
7. Tear down and rebuild the internal instruments (Impact, Presence etc) to be relevant in 2025
8. Work on allowing S1 to take FULL Advantage of all cores in any recent multicore CPU (Whether Windows or Mac).

AND - enhance comms and start making the (FASTER, BETTER, MORE MAJOR) updates that were promised during that goofy keynote video last September - mean something.

Not sure about the rest of the S1 crowd - but from Oct 9, 2024 to this writing - the update frequency/quality has not come anywhere near the value I expected for the $149.00 I paid.

YMMV.

For me - Presonus needs to step it up - in a big way.

To summarize your list: they should finally stop dragging their feet and polish up and perfect what they already have.

I strongly agree with your points about impact, presence, and I'll add sample 1 to the mix bc to me this is a very dated sampler. The browser needs modernization for sure. I would like to see those things come true as well VP im on board with pretty much all those changes.

Seeinginmidi, Automation clips are one of those features I didn't realize how bad I needed them until I had them sorta thing with bitwig 6 beta. In some ways this is better then modulators and in other ways there's certain modulators that only very tedious and specific automation would be able to copy - like envelope following the mix on a reverb. I think half of the people would be happy to just have basic modulations like cubase currently has where it isn't comparable to bitwig but gets a lot of the daily driver modulators checked off the list. If we got either automation clips or modulators I would be ecstatic though. If we got both I would be one of those people in the YouTube comments saying s1 won the daw wars it's over give up every other company lol.

"Polish" is being kind. There are a ton of things in S1 that have need a refurb for many years. And many other things that users have asked for that have never seen the light of day.

My biggest worry however - is the "update" vibe overall. There seemed to be this new found "energy" last fall with the launch of v7 where Presonus tossed around all sorts of promises in that video ranging from "We heard you! Faster more frequent updates! New version numbering where Studio One will no longer have a version number but releases will be "time based" (AKA something like Studio One 2025.3) and on and on.

Exactly none of this came to pass.

Presonus then changed the historical (chargeable) update window from two years to one and said to compensate for asking for twice as much money - twice as fast - we were somehow going to be compensated by all this "good stuff".

Any user - tracking the last 11 months - can clearly see that the update schedule was essentially identical to any previous version of S1 while the quality of said updates - were most certainly NOT like those of previous versions of S1. Users can also plainly see that Studio One is still called Version 7 - even tho we were told this was going away.

So when exactly are any of the broad claims made in that video - going to materialize? Considering a lot of folks (me included) are just about to watch our "annual updates" window run out (oct 10, 2025) - I am very curious exactly when this next update will drop.

Will it be before Oct 10 - so we can feel like we get some value - or will it be strategically placed on Oct 11 (OR way after) so we need to pony up another $149 to get the goods we were promised?
Like - for example - those mysterious "3 to 4 major updates in 2025"

It is hard to pin down exactly what Presonus meant by "3 or 4 major updates per year" in that video. Was it IN 2025 (Jan 1-Dec 31) or IN the year starting Oct 9, 2024 - Oct 9,2025.

I see a lot of annoyed users if this next update (which most likely WILL be major) comes out after our annual updates period ends.

Couldn't agree more VP.

Every comment I make questioning this, or any even slightly negative criticism gets instantly deleted from their YouTube videos.

If you read the comments all you see is praise.

The trust is gone for me. I will never purchase based on what "might happen" again.

I can't imagine this isn't going to crush their business model when they've given no real reason to keep buying in.

But no thoughts on automation?
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Not a lot of use for that here. But I am sure it can always be improved.

Who relies on internal instruments from a DAW in 2025? Seems like stock synths and fx would be the last thing one wants a DAW developer pouring energy into when there are higher priorities

What they might want to consider is not to be so rigid with enforcing a cutoff date if an update happens to be right around the corner. Unofficially add 60 days just to keep folks happy.

So how good are these new StudioLive Series III SE Digital Mixers with S7?

Well - if I could find a drum sampler as good as Impact - maybe I would look elsewhere - but haven't found one yet. Again - I am not alone in this request.

Not expecting any favors with the end date. And - they would forever be defined by a bizarre move like that - no chance.

If possible, I would like for an improved user experience in Studio One with respect to the drag & drop of MIDI data ...

[1] between any two VST plugins hosted in Studio One
[2] to and from the DAW's instrument tracks
[3] to and from the OS desktop/file browser

... without first drag/dropping to the Studio One browser and selecting MIDI file as the output file type (since the default file type is MidiLoop). I would altogether like to bypass that browser middleman along with that subsequent MIDI output file type selection pop-up.

Other features I, too, would like to see the DAW support in tracks are automation clips, MIDIFX, and modulators (which other folks have already mentioned).
