Regarding those cringe latest additions like Lead Architect: yes, fully agreed! I totally and utterly support the idea of making what is there better rather than just throwing in new features so they can put another bullet point on the marketing blurb.
However, let's be honest, S1 is a fully featured DAW with a huge breadth of capability and each of us probably only use about half the features available. So every single person's list is going to be a bit different and we would just have to hope that the Presonus "hit list" matches with our own use case.
If I'm honest I only updated to v6 when they introduced project templates which I think are essential but I'm sure others just shrugged at that one. Similarly, when they introduced pretty much every feature in v6 and v7 I shrugged at those. I'm actually not sure there's anything else in v6 which I found useful (they were focusing on Atmos and I don't care about Atmos) and I feel the same way about v7.
My list would include things like splitting stereo files into dual mono without having to go through the browser (and vice versa) which is pretty much a standard feature in every other DAW. Not exactly marketing magic but it would make my life a bit easier.

I can't remember why I bought the upgrade to v7. Maybe the main reason was that the price had dropped below 100 bucks in the end-of-year sale. But usually, I always have 1-2 features that I like, and the rest of the package is just extra.dastewart wrote: Thu Sep 18, 2025 9:36 am If I'm honest I only updated to v6 when they introduced project templates which I think are essential but I'm sure others just shrugged at that one. And one more word regarding ATMOS: I tried out the demo songs (the same song mixed in stereo and in ATMOS). The ATMOS version actually sounds even better in stereo playback! But I don't think it's worth the extra effort.

Ironically - that ATMOS "update" was the last time that I sat back and said - "Wow - these guys really did a nice job on this".Crossinger wrote: Thu Sep 18, 2025 2:34 pmAnd one more word regarding ATMOS: I tried out the demo songs (the same song mixed in stereo and in ATMOS). Now - am I an ATMOS fan? No. Was I part of that 2 year non-stop whine campaign where "Studio One is going to disappear because it DOESN"T have ATMOS!!!" Certainly not. Do I have the entire ATMOS interface shut off so it never appears in my S1? Certainly do.
And finally - am I surprised that any discussion about ATMOS (IN S1) whatsoever is basically non-existent now? Certainly not.
But damn - Presonus did do a nice job. Probably the best I have seen. Now if they could just harness that greatness into a set of updates that more people actually use (or might want to use)...

I agree they did a superb job (as far as I can tell as a non-user) of Atmos but also agree that it's a shame they didn't apply that same quality to something else. Anything else really.

I felt the same way when all the DAW makers were buzzing about 5.1 surround.
When 99.9% of your perspective listeners will be hearing it on their phones thru iTunes, Spotify or YouTube bit reduced and squashed to death what's the point?
I've owned every version of S1 since V2. I bought the upgrade to 6 but unless they
actually add something I'm actually interested in and can use....I'm done. I'm also
not a huge fan of their new pricing structure nor their buyout by "Fender". Fender
simply grabbed some S1 base code and added their own amp & fx plugins to "create" Fender Studio. You'd think they could have shared the Fender sims with S1 users
.....but no.

I would absolutely use ATMOS if it could be used with MixFX. MixFX is one area where PreSonus has indeed dropped the ball.Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Thu Sep 18, 2025 2:43 pm And finally - am I surprised that any discussion about ATMOS (IN S1) whatsoever is basically non-existent now? Certainly not.

have 2 questions:
how do i get a pan control on the tracks in S1? I don't want to open and close the screen hungry mixer constantly, just to change and see pan.
how do I stop the full plugin rescan every 2nd or 3rd time S1 is opened? i can't randomly wait 10 minutes to open a DAW.
thanks

Pan should be there in most cases by default - unless your track height is super skinny or super short:I_Am_Become_KVR wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 3:41 pm

Thanks, but I asked how to get the pan in the track view, not the mixer.Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 3:51 pm Pan should be there in most cases by default - unless your track height is super skinny or super short:

Apologies on the misread - but there is no such thing as pan in a track in Studio One.I_Am_Become_KVR wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 4:12 pmThanks, but I asked how to get the pan in the track view, not the mixer.
Tracks and channels do not have a one-to-one relationship in this DAW.
It's the mixer (or Inspector - F4) for panning.

Automation. You can create a separate lane automation or set it in the "A" key view.I_Am_Become_KVR wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 3:41 pm have 2 questions:

Just like every DAW since the 90's, many of which put a pan control (not just volume) instantly accessible in the arranger view.jamcat wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 5:27 pm Studio one has arranger tracks and mixer channels. Just like a tape machine + console.

Thanks, I had found this in the meantime. Indeed there is a pan slider on the arrange view.... just buried and taking extra steps to get to.wikter wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 3:17 pm Automation. You can create a separate lane automation or set it in the "A" key view.
