Last night I did a thorough test of the new polyvolks filter. Sending the output of B2600 into both filters I checked the different modes: LP, HP, BP, & notch. The two filters have different characteristics, for example they self resonate at different levels. I also checked the coupling of cutoff frequency with the switch engaged. Next, I checked that the CV input worked by sending the 2600’s LFO into it and adjusting the attenuation knob. I couldn’t help also doing dual filter sweeps with main LFO out to 2600 and ‘delayed’ LFO into polyvolks to get complex sounds. Everything works, I am totally happy.

All this great stuff around me, but I’ve been having a blast on Syntakt only. Making things that I don’t usually do.

The studio part is going to come once I figure out a workflow for mixing something from Syntakt.

Using Overbridge (via USB and plugin counterpart of Syntakt) means there’s separate tracks for reverb, delay and the FX track, where much of the “meat” of the music can live. It can create some problems, so I might end up recording that way, plus recording each track one at a time with all FX baked in.

Otherwise, I have a nice arsenal of new M4L devices that I’m having fun with. I’m trying to get further away from some plugins and I’m hoping by the end of the year, I can narrow it down to just a handful of plugins and likewise, a handful of M4L devices.

Additionally, I’m hoping to replicate my favorite Ozone workflow without Ozone. It’s an end of 2025 goal.

No matter how much stuff there is in the studio, I often still enjoy focusing on one thing. That's usually how I'm working when I'm collecting sampler food or sketching out ideas on the Octatrack.

My chips finally arrived, so I quickly fixed my Doepfer A-150-1.

I’ve been busy building a metamodule preset that has 8 pages x12 knobs mapped to the front panel. I’m really enjoying what this module brings to eurorack.

Finished off the track I’d been tinkering with and now on to the next thing.

Are you safe?

I finished off the track I had started with the Quadrantid Swarm into the Farbshaper wave folder. It is notable that it starts in 7/4 and ends in 4/4 time.
Then, after a break, I messed around with another track I had started. I cut the time from 144 bpm to 82 bpm and made it very dubby.

I decided that 12 was enough tracks recorded for my next album, and converted them to MP3 for a test listen.

Then after seeing the demo video for a cool new module...

...I wanted to experiment with massive numbers of allpass filters in Bitwig Grid. I didn't get anything great from that, unlike the video. But it send me off on a tangent and I wound up recording a 13th track.

And then I had the idea of patching Multimod's 8 outputs into Drezno's 8 bit outputs, played with that with audio for a while... then unpatched the audio and used it to generate psuedo-random repeating patterns for a pitch sequence instead. And I liked that enough to record a 14th track.

My wife just said "I guess there are worse compulsions to have..." :hihi:

I was super excited yesterday when I found out they added new features to the Metal Fetishist. So I updated it. Turns out to be a lot like a euro rack module:

After changing settings to hear them, I switched one and made a video

even remembered my video light has a special effect mode

All sounds created from a printer printing paper, and the directive was to get a robot to the dance floor, make them dance, and then malfunction.
Just seen the winners list. Congrats!
