Using two amps simultanously

I got myself an EH Switchblade pedal last night. You can pick which of two amps you want to use, as well as playing both at the same time, which is really why I got it. That really opens up a lot of options, as well as fattens up your sound considerably. I don't suppose you can get a pedal with outputs for three amps?

#1. use another switchblade in series in one of them
#2. bypass looper pedals can do the same thing if true bypass
- some programmable to have certain pedals/loops activated with a simple push button
- activation with midi in some and many things to have a full closet of pedal boards controlled simply
The simplest versions means to send to a pedal and use return from one or more pedals, you can make a Y-connector instead and use as multiple outputs.
- there are those <$200 for 6 loops
Look for those that have many amp outputs too if you like.
I used a single pedal in a loop sometimes, if not having true bypass, to have true bypass all over the board.
Pick any you like

You are dealing with signal on pedal level, so no rocket science really.
When you come to using many amps to same cabinet is another story, that takes caution.

Yeah, I'm not going to try that. I don't even know if it's possible, apart from when using amps in serial I guess, which isn't exactly what I'm doing. Apart from that, two amps is good enough right now. My comment about three amps was a tad tounge in cheek, it's nice to know the options I have if I should want to expand to more amps thoughlfm wrote: Sat Sep 20, 2025 8:24 am When you come to using many amps to same cabinet is another story, that takes caution.
I have this, Stagg Male Mono Jack/2x Female Mono Jack Adaptor Cable, can I just plug this into one of the outputs on the Switchblade and plug in two different amps?

A splitter cable, yeah sure. Works better when used after something which buffers. Most pedals without true bypass do buffering.
Without such buffer amp (esp on guitars with passive electronics) you'd be doubling the already high impedance. Not all amps behave nice then in that regard: one sucks all the juice, the other gets not enough strengthy signal. Something which buffers fixes that.

Probably works, in theory, but impedance that guitar pickups sense are half since in parallell in the same electric circuit.YnJ wrote: Sat Sep 20, 2025 9:46 am

If Switchblade did it right, they probably isolated guitar signal with a transformer and buffered signal(like BertKoor referred to) to each amp.
- this to minimize risk for ground loops
I think my idea of bypass loopers really is too simple.

The Switchblade is according to the specs true bypass, so no buffer I guess? It doesn't say any anything about it, apparently it has an internal phase switch for phase correction though
Anyway, the most likely way I would use the splitter cable is the if I use the Switchblade for running two different dirt pedals in paralell and the splitter to sum the signal back into a single cable before the amp. I have a buffer built into a power supply I have, not sure where to place it though when used like that though

Do not use a splitter for summing. That might actually kill precious gear.
Doesn't the amp have dual inputs? Use a mixer!

Wont something like the JHS Pedals Summing Amp work just as well?

I’ve used dual hardware amps a lot in my day, but never three. ITB? Sure. I frequently use Amplitube to split my signal two or three ways. It’s great for big parts, intros, breaks, etc, but unless you’re dealing with a very spare mix, it’s too much.

I think we moved on from multiple amps to using dirt pedals in paralell. I guess you could use the Tri Parallel Mixer for three amps, I would rather use that for using dirt pedals in paralell. Three dirt pedals in paralell sounds interesting

As the name implies true bypass is only relevant in the bypass state. That means when the pedal is off. Once you turn a pedal on it is always buffered.YnJ wrote: Sun Sep 21, 2025 8:43 am The Switchblade is according to the specs true bypass, so no buffer I guess?
