Demos looked very nice, sound seemed good, but if they're expecting me to grab my wallet with no demo, they are dreaming.

Not all that impressed with what I've seen from X and it looks like they've discontinued BiasFX.

I got Bias FX2 for free in some promo that I don't remember, a couple of years ago. I only tried it for an hour or so, but couldn't find a tone that didn't sound harsh and/or flat to me. Maybe there are better sounds in there, but I wasn't willing to work that hard for them, considering their competition. YMMV, of course.
When I spotted the new Bias X, I checked my account, and the upgrade is only $99, which is decent. I tried FX2 again this week. Same result as before. I'm moderately interested. But not without a demo, considering that past history with Bias. I hope they've upped their game. They're competing in a saturated market.

There is a demo now.
My take on it is that it's quite good, but I do have some criticisms. It's beautiful looking, but at the expense of being easy to use, and by that I mean, I can't adjust the gain on a fuzz box and the gain of an amp without going back and forth between different panes. Guitar Rig does this the best, IMO.
Amps all sound good, but they're not emulations, just "inspired by." Controls don't match what they're going for, so you end up with a general "Fenderish" tone. That, and a lot of the amps sound a bit similar.
The effects are all good, especially the "Pro" models which have a lot of flexibility. Some cool creative effects as well. I don't like that I can't control the range of MIDI on something like a wah pedal where I might not want the full range of the effect but I do want the full range of my pedal.
It's definitely more of a CPU hog than Amplitube, but not too bad. Can it replace Amplitube? Not yet, I don't think, but it could be a good way to augment it. For a $99 upgrade price, I probably will end up getting it.

No. I got to the point where I decided that I didn’t need it. I noticed some aliasing on the high gain models and the cool glitchy delay effect had zero crossing clicks. I reported them as bugs and their AI support told me to increase the oversampling… which isn’t a feature.
By that time, my demo time was over. It might be a good feature for people who don’t know how to get what they want, but that’s not really me. I doubt I’d ever use it.
