I understand that everything about ARIA versions is very confusing.
May be, KVR needs to separate ARIA Player and ARIA Engine (or drop the Engine completely), and pay attention to OS version differences:
- ARIA Player was developed by MakeMusic/Garritan, and its development is stalled.
- ARIA Engine is developed by Plogue, and is now being updated only with sforzando.
As a result, KVR versioning for ARIA is completely broken.
KVR incorectly shows version 1.9.6.9 as the most recent for Mac and Windows; the real situation is much more complicated.
ARIA Player for Windows:
- The most recent version of ARIA Player for Windows downloadable from MakeMusic/Garritan website is 1.959.
ARIA Engine for Windows:
- ARIA Engine 1.967 is the last version released for ARIA Player for Windows, and can be installed only as engine update directly from ARIA Player. It will be overridden with engine version 1.981 if you install sforzando 1.981 after that;
- The most recent version of ARIA Engine for Windows is 1.981. It can be installed only as part of sforzando 1.981, and ARIA Player will use it, but reports it as unreleased if you clink on Update engine button.
ARIA Player for Mac:
- The most recent version of ARIA Player for Mac downloadable from MakeMusic/Garritan website is 1.959;
- Their most recent version of ARIA Player for Mac is now 2.026. It is absent from their website and is available only though direct link for some reason: https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ ... con-Native;
ARIA Engine for Mac:
- The most recent version of ARIA Engine for Mac released by MakeMusic/Garritan is 2.026 (bundled with Player 2.026), and this made folks from Plogue mad because it broke their versioning system;
- The most recent version of ARIA Engine for Mac released by Plogue is 1.981 (installed with sforzando 1.981), and it is more recent than 2.026.
BTW, the ARIA Engine website http://ariaengine.com is deprecated and not being updated anymore: https://www.plogue.com/plgfrms/viewtopic.php?t=9904.
