but we have never heard about the policy of giving a free copy
to every betatester at the end of the betatesting program...

We, as a Company, betatested for Steinberg and we're doing it
for Propellerhead's Reason 3.0. No one of these companies plan
to give a free copy of their softwares at the end of the programs.

Anyway this should not be a problem for this codenamed
"Hammer" because it's going to be freeware and so coool.
hi

it depends from company to company and which type of betatesting is occuring..

however, I've never ever seen anyone (even the smaller developers) NOT give at least those who helped the most a NFR copy at the end of a closed beta for a commercial product. As topaz said.. real beta testing is tedious, hard work.. its not simply 'load it up and play for awhile' as some might think.

also, in some markets (like gaming).. beta-testing is a full time job (and some with benefits)..

would you be willing to tell your boss(if you have one) today, 'I love my job so much that, while I want to stay, I would also like it if you could stop (financially) compensating me.' ???

:)

Ok, I didn't want to disappoint you!

This is public betatesting as the one going on for Reason 3.0.
We have our own restricted team of full time betatester and
we treat them as they have to be treated (full free versions,
etc, etc...)

This team is made up of trusted well-known guys, I think it is
extremely clear that this is a large scale betatesting: who will
ask for a full-time betatester over a forum?!

Anyway, I think these will be tiny problems when you will
discover what this codenamed "Hammer" tool really is.

Ta da!

it seems that hammer allows you to route audio into reason through rebirth input machine. anyone tried it? do beta testers already recieved their prog?

quote:Peter Tools is currently beta testing a new application called "Hammer". Users with two soundcards, or a full duplex / multi client ASIO card, can use Hammer to feed audio into Reason. This has been a widely debated topic and, although this doesn't allow hard-disk recording, it's the solution for live audio processing, vocoding your voice and effecting your instruments.

But will it be possible to use 'Hammer' with Rewire? ie. use it to effect vsti instruments or audio tracks fed from Tracktion? I'm guessing no, because Reason needs to be the Rewire Master to use the Rebirth input, and that precludes you from rewiring Reason to a vsti host. (confusing enough?)

Post

I hope this will work good, and I hope someday this will become multitrack audio recorder too. No VST or anything, just recording, basic in-track editing of audio clips and routing tracks to available rebirth channels. Maybe even some acid style looping ;) Reason 3 could be a great rewire master because of new mastering tools. Heck, Peter Tools could even consider licensing this "rebirth device hack" to some companies with audio sequencers.

Can't wait for the demo!
