Hi there,

I messed up the settings for the VST3 instrument "Pianoteq 8 STAGE.vst3".

Before I messed up the settings, I could select the VST3 instrument for a track and it would simply play the track.

Then I did something (cannot remember what) and now nothing is played when I select the Pianoteq instrument. When I open the intrument plugin in editor window for the track, I can see that no keys are being pressed in the plugin when I play the track. WHen I press a keyboard key in the editor window, no sound can be heard.

So I must have messed up badly.

How can I reset the plugin setting and connections?
Any idea how I messed up?

In Ableton, the plugin works perfectly.

Hi Jens,

I checked what happened. Probably Pianoteq updated itself but in the new version the VST3 plug-in has the category "Instrument|Fx" and when "Fx" was included in the category, RapidComposer treated it as an effect, not an instrument. I have added a small fix today, so when the category includes "Instrument" the plug-in is treated as an instrument. It is not a good idea to include both, obviously Pianoteq was the only plug-in that did this.
I am re-building the current RapidComposer version, the Windows version is already uploaded. So please download the installer again, and it will work.

thanks for the fast answer.

I downloaded v5.9b8 via the official download link and installed it. Is this the correct version?

But I still have the same problem. Maybe this is just a strange setting that I made.

Do you have any idea what it could be?

When I open the Pianoteq GUI from RC and press play, the keys are not being highlighted so the Pianoteq GUI apparently does not receive any note from RC.

When I manually press a key in the Pianoteq GUI, I hear no audio output.

Hi Jens,

no, you should download v5.5.7 again.
Since you did not post in the beta topic, I assumed you used the stable version.
There will be a new beta version in 1-2 days, I was working on something for weeks.

thanks. It works now.

But I accidently saved my current composition in v5.9b8 and now I get an error when I load it into v5.5.7.

Any idea how I can load it into v5.5.7?

Ouch! You can't load it into an older version.
Newer versions can load any compositions from older versions, but the other way it does not work.
I tried to add a hack but I gave up, it was just not possible, I am afraid.
Please stay with the newer version.

Hi alltogether!

Reading this post I animated to participate. Pianotec vst3 HAS NEVER WORKED for me in RapidComposer. No Sound.

Pianotec vst works as it should.
Would be nice to have the vst3 version working too.

Hi hapbrasil,

I did not know about that because I have not installed Pianoteq until now.
The problem was with the VST3 identification, the plug-in advertised itself as an effect and an instrument and RC treated it as an effect. From now the VST3 will work too. Please re-download v5.5.7.
