Wouldn't a Boss BF-2 plugin be sweet?

I've always loved this pedal. First one I ever bought many, many years ago. Nothing sounds quite like it.

Has anyone found anything even close in the for of a plugin?

Amplitube3 Has the Boss BF-2

Interesting.

I'm not familiar with Amplitube. Is it possible to run those plugins as VST's directly in Cubase or do they only work in Amplitube?

Loading up a whole session of Amplitube in Cubase just to use a BF-2 plugin is a bit heavy. I can probably figure out a way to run a track through my BF-2 pedal before I got that route (even though I only have E-Mu 0404 USB which doesn't have many outputs other than my monitor outputs).

Tell IK to implement dynamic RAM allocation for Amplitube 3.

IMO the real magic of the BF-2 comes when you open it up & mess with the 3 internal trimpots. Takes it out of the "slightly polite" realm typical of many Boss FX into true wackiness.

Interesting, must be BBD based (bucket brigade delay). Maybe I'll pick up one from ebay as they seem to be quite cheap.

I have a BF-3 here which sounds good too, but that's digital. Even some of the BF-2s seem to be digital, dependent on when they were manufactured.

Roland Cloud has the BF-2 in their ACB modelled pedals plugin:

In production for over 20 years, the original BF-2 hardware featured a unique analog design based around a single BBD chip. This versatile effect produces an array of warm modulated tones, from metallic and phase-shifted textures to soft chorus and wavering vibrato."

Yep. And it is spot on to my BF-2 pedal. All of the BOSS Effects Pedals models are super accurate.

It’s just unfortunate that they aren’t for sale, because the one thing I won’t do is rent software.

Yeah that thing frigging rules. I'm kinda pissed, I bought the 909 while its on its 9/09 sale. In my 'Software Library' in the Cloud Manager, it shows me the effects pedals and it says FREE too, but they're in demo mode unless I subscribe. WTF is up with the 'FREE' label if they don't actually work?

I tried out the T-Wah on a bass track and it was awesome, but yeah not going to 'rent' my plugins. I'm guessing they don't sell them flat out because they're going to keep adding stuff to it periodically?

i sent them a request via their support to allow us to use the Play-for-Life licenses on the software effects (including the Boss Pedals) and they said they would consider it.

maybe it was a stock answer, but if enough people make the same request maybe things will change in the future.

i also pointed out that they haven't offered any new and interesting instruments, so there is no way for me to make use of my remaining licenses.
