Reliable audio/MIDI interface for iPhone?

I've had a lot of trouble finding one.
First I got a second hand Behringer iStudio IS202, which works fine with an old iPad but does not work with the iPhone, even with an official Apple 30pin-to-lightning adapter.
Then I got a TC Helicon GO Solo, which initially seems to work but the MIDI cuts out a few times a minute and is practically unusable.
Why is this not a solved problem? There are many great iOS apps / synths, but not a convenient way to hook them up to a PC like any other piece of external gear.

So I gather you iPhone has a Lighting port, not 30-Pin.
In that case get the _original_ Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter
https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MX5J ... a1e144c38b
and use any USB-class compliant audio/MIDI-Interface. You will also most problably need to power the interface. This can happen over the Lightning port on the adapter which also powers the iPhone.
For doing anything music related with an Lightning iPhone or iPad, this Adapter is essential.
PS: also the TC seems like kinda crap. Like documented here:

I submit my trusty Steinberg UR22c interface.
It is fully compliant with my 2 ipads . AND, is self
powered with a 5V android phone adapter or power bank.
Incredibly solid.
Also, has old-school Midi in-out.
