Many of them don't do negative time, but it's my understanding some of them do allow for the time parameter to be modulated. Run it as an aux effect, without the dry input and place a tape plugin either before or after it.
It won't be the same, but it could get you in the general vicinity.
Well I was thinking of something along the likes of Doubler, but it's a Waves product so I didn't want to mention it, given the fact this thread is about finding a Waves ADT alternative.

I just figured there maybe other plugins out there that I'm not aware of that you could use instead, and pair that with a tape emulation to get you somewhere in the vicinity. It would be ideal if the time parameter could also be modulated internally, as that's how ADT does it. Time and speed... basically tape delay, but with multiple heads doing their own thing.

checked out a LOT of plugins, and went back to ADT, since, in fact, it does the things i want simpler and better than any other plugin i found. so it goes; am working, and all is wellsimon.a.billington wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 6:58 amfisherKing wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 2:10 pmwhat is a 'regular doubler''? just wondering if you're referencing something not yet suggested in this thread. meanwhile, i have decided to stay with reel ADT, it's doing everything i want a stereo-split doubler to do.simon.a.billington wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 4:48 am Thinking about it, you could always try a regular doubler. That's still a valid solution I guess. fwiw, that's not at all my thinking, am a big fan of finding new tools, synths... and discarding previous ones. but ADT just proved to be best for what i want. so it's really about finding what works bestsimon.a.billington wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 7:05 amThat's still a valid solution I guess. You could take a look at Sonnox VoxDoubler, but in my brief experience, it required buffers larger than I was comfortable with.
EDIT: this one definitely requires iLok. Sorry for my lack of attention.
