I have a DT2 and RYTM mk2, but this is going to replace the DT2. The RYTM is integral to several of my WIPs, so it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Since you have a number of Electron machines, be sure to share how you feel about comparative workflow after using the TR for a while. I know that's what Electron users really like about Electron, so it will be interesting to hear about whether the current TR workflow, particularly for live performance, even in a studio setting, is as effective for people who like Electron.cryophonik wrote: Thu Oct 02, 2025 4:47 pmI have a DT2 and RYTM mk2, but this is going to replace the DT2. Yeah, I can do that, but any information I provide won't have anything to do with "live performance" or any sort of jamming. I'm not a DJ and live jams aren't my thing. I will be using this almost strictly as a hardware drum machine for my songs, as I do with my Elektrons. I just like having a hardware/software hybrid workflow, which is why the software editor and, especially, song mode are essential to me - I arrange the drums on the hardware, then bounce everything to audio in my DAW. I'm sure there will be many people who are very good at live performances with Elektrons will be buying a TR-1000 and sharing their thoughts on it, though.ghettosynth wrote: Thu Oct 02, 2025 4:57 pmSince you have a number of Electron machines, be sure to share how you feel about comparative workflow after using the TR for a while. Mine arrived today and I love it, even just after an hour I feel a genuine attachment, the sound and the workflow are class- even the screensaver is cool
I am pretty sure I will sell my Syntakt, lot of overlap- keeping my Digitone II though.
I have had a lot of Elektron (including RYTM) and in my opinion this is a better allrounder- Like a RYTM and a Toneverk and a bit of Syntakt mixed together (with a pinch of Analogue Heat). Even the fader gives OT vibes in use...steal from the best as they say- plenty took from Roland!

I'm genuinely surprised and impressed with this. I thought for sure it would be another disappointing digital re-issue of classic gear. This looks fantastic for performance. Watching this for sure.

I would appreciate if you could comment on the sound quality between the Rytm and 1000. I’ve read lots of criticism over the Rytm regarding the bass drum and hats.cryophonik wrote: Thu Oct 02, 2025 5:44 pmYeah, I can do that, but any information I provide won't have anything to do with "live performance" or any sort of jamming. Sorry, I'm not a "synthfluencer" and I'm not getting dragged into that game. The RYTM sounds great, the TR-1000 will sound great, and they are going to sound different, but that's all subjective.perpetual3 wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 9:10 am I would appreciate if you could comment on the sound quality between the Rytm and 1000. I'm still baffled as to why, given they have them in this unit, Roland didn't reissue the 808/909 years ago. They are always popular, so sales wouldn't have been an issue (in my unqualified opinion)
Cost issues back then? Parts availability?
Who knows.
Anyway, this looks and sounds very capable, not on my list, but prob the best thing they have released for years.

I do believe they will be moving more into analog and hybrids from now on and that is the reason why the System 8 got discontinued.seafire wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 3:06 pm I'm still baffled as to why, given they have them in this unit, Roland didn't reissue the 808/909 years ago. I have a feeling that the SH-101 and the Juno 106 and 60 will be released next and that the SH-101 will be the first of their new releases.

Got mine today too, shes a beefy little big girl thou lol.. After having a TR8s, there wasnt too much of a learning curve, easy to setup and make own kits & importing own samples is a lot easier

Maybe you just need an iPad app if your only requirement is a big screen...Trancer wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 8:54 pm Very clearly so.
A Tr8s on steroids.
On the other hand, still a tiny screen.
So, the eternal Roland-style visual workflow, mediocre.
Seems like it's be fine for hands on control. Should have an app to help design kits.

Roland provides a free dedicated editor for it, but the hands-on capabilities are outstanding and very intuitive, not to mention that all tracks have customizable controls, and the screen size is just fine for its purposes. I’ve had the app open when I’m using the hardware, but I rarely even look at it because the hands-on aspect is so immediate.
My initial thoughts are that this is the most complete drum machine ever made, period.
