It is glorious.

Post

It's a 90 day fully functioning trial, then after the 90 days are up it is still fully functioning but there will be intermittent crackles.

You do need to activate the 90 day trial though.

Explained in the manual.

Post

You can download and install w/o registration/activation/email etc
It will the run in DEMO mode: mild vinyl-like crackles every now and then

You can get a free 90 days TRIAL LICENSE via tracktion.com
(you need to have a tracktion account for this)
During these 90 days it is like the full version.

After the 90 days it will return to the DEMO mode with crackles.

Exciting looking synth! It sounds more industrial than where I tend to want to go from a sound design point of view?

Not sure where you want to go from a sound design point of view.
The track by Biiansu in the video is industrial - but this is NOT representative of the sonic range!
Kontrast covers a wide sonic range including sweet analog, classical wavetable, FM-like, physical modelling like and ... well, also industrial.
There will be more videos by other YTers showing Ambient, Analog etc in the next days

This synth brings a lot of freshness and excitment to the table. A synth that sounds organic and lively. After playing a few of Databroth's presets I am deeply impressed. It seems to make a lot of sense to put the 3 macros on a midi controller as they go far beyond the typical cutoff, resonance, etc. assignments that are found in more traditional synths. Very expressive. Just bought it. If I would have got this synth years ago it would have spared me a few hundred bucks worth of synth purchases. I concider Kontrast somewhere between evolution and revolution. Well done, Dawesome!

I think it's very good at pretty much everything.

It's fantastic at evolving pads, aggressive bass sounds, lofi sampling, searing leads, weird percussive stuff, mellow chords, spooky etheral stuff, drones, atonal madness etc.

It's very much dependent on what you put into the wavetable section.

The scan section has a huge scope with all the various options and modulation possibilities.

There are so many tools to shape a sound. The filters are deep. The basic filters allow for classic substractive synthesis. The modal filter allows for physical modelling type sounds. The inharmonic control allows you to go into really weird atonal places. The filters are also bookended by distortion.

The effects are super comprehensive. Delays, reverbs, granular, stuff, modulation effects, different flavours of distortion, compression etc.

Modulations are all you could really want. MSEG/LFOs, envelopes, function generators for shaping etc.

What's even more bonkers is that you can take the last played note after all the effects and drag it back into the wavetable screen!

Kontrast has a less modular layout than other Dawesome synths but I think that's kind of a strength. It's a much easier synth to get to grips with.

Excellent synth. I think it might actually be my favorite among the Dawesome ones.

Both videos clearly show the enormous range of expressive sounds that Kontrast is capable of generating. It’s really nice to finally see a new Databroth video as well. And like his previous videos, there’s no talking and it’s all synth sounds.

So all of the focus is on designing patches from scratch, step by step. In typical Databroth style, he showcases some incredible, rippling basses with intensity that goes well beyond “the reese!”

These videos show the beautiful and brutal side of Kontrast. This synth has some serious teeth, and the onboard effects can enhance some really wild basses and special effects.

Then another patch can sound crystal clear with incredible details and emotional impact. This is one of those synths that begs for patient experimentation. And so far, I’ve been richly rewarded for the hours that I’ve put into it.
