Let's be optimistic. Maybe they'll be fun bugs this time, like turning all the text upside down!
I hate signatures too.

Seriously, Logic QA has gone down the shitter more than ever before. 5 years into silicon Macs, 1.5 years into Logic 11 and they *still* haven't worked out a solution for ARA while each and every other bigger DAW is integrating it just fine.
Not adressing the "files peaking below -35dB are no real audio files" issue speaks volumes, too.
And at the same time, their sample editor looks and works as if it'd still be 1998, all pitch shifting and time stretching follows suit.
They didn't even fix any of the various issues with their socalled "studio instruments", which is just absolutely pathetic.
As said before, they either don't have any decent testers anymore or they just don't listen to them at all.

I suspect that they, like Cubase, are sitting on a mountain of technical debt and are unwilling to do what's needed to update. They used Logic to sell Macs and when they looked at the ROI of dropping the price to $200 and said, Nah.
Does any professional use Logic, or even Final Cut, anymore?

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

No idea about FCP, but there's defenitely plenty of professional Logic users (of course also depending on how you define "professional").syntonica wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 6:13 am Does any professional use Logic, or even Final Cut, anymore?

Yes, super sh...y situation, as some relevant plug ins rely on ARA to work properly. Naturally Melodyne, but also others like Synthesizer V, or some of the new Sonible stuff etc. I think I read on some forum that Apple claims this is due to how AUs and Logic work, and that they somehow shield the program and the audio engine from external calls that might destabilize its core (which ARA seemingly does), or they blamed Celemony for not finding a solution, while Celemony said it's Apple's fault. In any case, I think the other programs use VSTs, not AUs?Sascha Franck wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 5:40 am Seriously, Logic QA has gone down the shitter more than ever before. 5 years into silicon Macs, 1.5 years into Logic 11 and they *still* haven't worked out a solution for ARA while each and every other bigger DAW is integrating it just fine.
By the way: Melodyne hasn't evolved much, either, has it? Development seems to be glacial there as well, and I would guess the workforce that is actively thinking about a solution is extremely small to non-existent.
So: Yeah, sucks, as this really affects workflow.

This, at least sort of (from all I know).tq wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 8:21 am I think I read on some forum that Apple claims this is due to how AUs and Logic work, and that they somehow shield the program and the audio engine from external calls that might destabilize its core
They're now hosting plugins outside of the main program application. This has been causing quite some issues with plenty of plugins, lots of sample based ones among them which couldn't relocate missing samples anymore, such as Battery, Groove Agent, Speeddrum, etc. - so you were forced to use Rosetta mode for things to work, but obviously that's coming with other nuisances (to put it mildly). Let alone Tahoe will likely be the last macOS to support Rosetta mode.
Apple is of course (business as usual, really...) blaming all 3rd party programmers yet again. Which starts to look more than just stupid after all these years.
I really wish all 3rd party developers would've kicked Apples ass already back then when they decided to come up with their oh-so-fancy-and-great AU "standard" (which never was able to prove its fancyness or any kind of superiority).

I bought a Logic license this year when I got my first Mac. It's completely usable for my needs, but there's some workflow snafus that keep me using Reaper for now.
- ARA
- No drum maps for third party instruments, wtf. Every DAW has that. Thankfully found a workaround
- No MIDI CC mapping per focused window/plugin. This one sucks. In other DAWs when I open a plugin, my midi mapping auto-switches to that plugin while it's in focus
- Waveforms look low-res and sometimes don't even render low volume information unless the waveform size is increased
I'm disappointed because I kept hearing how good Logic is for MIDI. If they fixed those elements I'd jump back in.

Wow .... 1. Pro Tools 2. Logic 3. Studio One ... as a result of a survey initiated by a website that focuses on Pro Tools, Logic and Studio One. Now that is a surprising outcome...

Yes, it’s very surprising that a large percentage of professional users still choose to use the DAW with the combination of longest track record, features, and best value.

I would claim that these "facts" are always very subjective.djanthonyw wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 11:33 am Yes, it’s very surprising that a large percentage of professional users still choose to use the DAW with the combination of longest track record, features, and best value.

Anybody that makes more than pocket change. (I realize the whole world has changed since I was selling external drive to ProTools users, but zi think y'all get the gist.)
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?
