Hi, strange request.

I had great results with kick drums using two comps in an Elektron box.
The comp in the DT and anything later should be same

i would guess it´s a thing of the settings, rather than to use a specific type of plugin comp ?
I´d like to know -or discuss- about both aspects "if" anybody in the knows wants to chim in ;)
- Which comp type ? (plugin)
- What´s the thing with the settings ?
i´d like to create the same feel dealing with a comp ITB.
I would guess it´s about to run "un-subtle" settings mainly, probably even nothing else ?

( honestly, i have not tryed ITB anything with Drums myself so far. To have a starting point would help as a motivation kicker)

I've not really tested to see what plugins sound most like Elektron's RYTM compressor, but my guess is any good classic analog compressor emulation is going to get you something that's got some analog-vibe. UAD's Distressor emulation is something I like to use on drums that are not coming from my RYTM.

The RYTM’s compressor is analog and has a different sound (more character?) than the DT’s compressor. It’s a little hard to compare the two, though, because the RYTM is also an analog drum machine/sampler, so you might not really hear the difference unless you’re comparing the two units’ compressors using only samples from the RYTM (FTR I’ve never actually done this, even though I own both). My impression of the DT’s compressor is that it’s fairly neutral and familiar sounding, maybe an SSL-style? It certainly does help to glue the sample-based sounds of the DT together, as an SSL-style comp does.

ok, that´s a point. Thanks.
which ones of the plugin alliance comps is SSL style ? purple audio MC 77 ?
Or which mode in Cenozoix would be preferable ?
(i dismantle my setup now. no access until back up again)

a quick online search vs. SSL bus comps gave me several "best 5" posts/blogs.
Seems i have no SSL bus comp. Not anything that i´m aware of.

it´s about two comps in series. My magic happened with two such elektron comps in series.
Point was: How quick i got there. Then from there the tweak and even more so jam-ability. Not the "sound-quality" as such as the goal.*

* That´s the point here ;)
ANY feeback welcome vs. "such" ;)

Just try TBProAudio Impress3. It's about $50. Not so much into emulations. To me, if Fabfilter made the UI for it, this could be "ProC3". But they don't, so the UI is merely ok. But the compressor itself is excellent.

If going with SSL, I'd suggest the Softube Bus Compressor, as it's closest for 4:1 to my SSL G hardware clone (less so for 2:1 and much less so for 10:1).
