The feature set looks good, and I don't mind the fact that it's an older product, but I'm always a bit leery when something is priced so low. (The deal is at Plugin Boutique and I've had good interactions with them in the past.)

Anything I need to watch out for?

I did see there were some weird authorization issues not that long ago.

Also, I'm on Win 10 for the foreseeable future, if that has any bearing.

Thanks.

UAD has a free amp sim at plugin boutique so get that while you're at it. It's a Fender (not the Dream 65).

Maybe v6 is around the corner but they constantly have sales so who knows. I've never had any issues with ik. I just tried the free Amplitube and Tonex. The sound has improved since the last time I tried Amplitube, so I'll probably pick it up as well. I'm on Windows 10 as well.

Ah, there's a Tonex for $30 as well but they don't specify what's included.

I think the caveat is that it these versions probably don't qualify for a discounted upgrade path to the next version. But at $30, what do you expect? Also, you may not be able to sell them. But these are just wild guesses by me.

Amplitube is my go-to guitar amp modeler for a number of reasons. Quality, (though it can be uneven) variety, and workflow (which also has some speed bumps). Anything that's not modeled, or isn't the best model, is represented in Tonex, which can run inside Overall, it's great. The real version to get is the 5 Max, and that sometimes goes on sale for $99.

I've been using Amplitube 5 on Windows 10 for a few years now and no issues. Don't plan on moving to 11 any time soon.

Thanks for the feedback, y'all.

It certainly looks like very good value, but I get a bit overwhelmed when there are, seemingly, so many variables- 5 Max, 5 Special Edition, 5 CS, Tonex....

And there's a notice on the Plugin Boutique site: "Important note: Internet connection is required as all of the Custom Shop operations are web based." I'm guessing that's
5 CS, the freebie version.... having an internet connection is not a barrier for me in most situations.

That’s only for when you want to buy something with the Custom Shop.

It looks like "non-upgrade versions of TONEX, AmpliTube 5" (which includes this $30 AmpliTube deal) are excluded from qualifying for IK's 50x1 group buy.

Is that correct?

That's how I read it.

Well, what do they have that sells for $30 anyway, since the freebies have to be of equal or lesser value?

If anyone is curious since I couldn't find any definitive info before buying it. The $30 Tonex does have unlimited tonex downloads (user created). Also, you have to have the IK product manager open to access the tonenet for some reason.

They have AmpliTube 5 listed as a $299.99€ value. So you can't qualify with AmpliTube 5, and you need to purchase something listed at $299.99€ to be able to choose AmpliTube 5 as one of your free products.

The deal was that Total Studio Max for under $200. For anyone just starting out I would recommend going with only V2 ToneX profiles.

1. This is the base collection, which contains quite a few features, but there are quite a few additional collections that you may very well want.
2. There is a group buy going on. Unfortunately the $29 version of Amplitube will not qualify, but for $99 you can buy one of the additional collections and will probably be able to get all of them plus all of the ToneX profiles, depending on how many people buy in.
3. The quality of the models varies. Some have been around forever and could stand an update. However, anything that has been added in versions 4 or 5 is pretty good.

This is very intriguing and a clever marketing move, too.
Thanks for the concise summary. (And thanks to everyone else who responded.)

It seems I have a bit more thinking to do. :o :?

You can download a pdf showing what each version includes if I'm not mistaken at IK's website.

I got 5 max for $100 I think.
I think it's groovy

-I have one bug, that the volume out is not selecting and de-selecting properly,
something to do with the plug window boundaries and mouse clicks
Also it's very dependent on compatible video card drivers,
I had really high cpu use with the ui open, until I tried an Nvidia driver update

It helps to have a midi foot controller
I wonder what I want in here
