I will be going to the theatre for this one (Spinal Tap). A rare exception to my big-sci-fi-only rule for the theatre.

It's surprising more artists/bands don't do this. To sing, play 3 or more shows back to back is brutal especially if having to do that in multiple cities.
I suppose that's why bands lip and instrument sync.

I don't disagree, but, to whom? Keep in mind that I wouldn't pay $9 to see Rush, unless it was Ed Rush, but I don't understand the mindset of someone who thinks that experience is worth $900 to $3k. I do understand that young people, e.g., Swiftees, might see things that way, but you would think that by the time you get to be old enough to remember Rush enough that you want to see them in concert that you'd roll your eyes at that kind of crap as well. I suppose I'm just out of touch, that's ok.cryophonik wrote: Fri Oct 10, 2025 9:06 pm Every show is still going to sell out and scalper prices will go for even more. Welcome to 2025...

No, I agree, not out of touch just a 'generational' thing. I'm guessing we're both that genx demographic, used to get tickets for small/medium venues for about the price of the record, big stadium shows would be double or so (got a memory of trying to sell my friends ticket for Genesis in '87 to a tout, sure it was ~£23, double a CD at the time)(double the price of a CD today come to think of it...) Whereas someone like my daughter (gen-z...) loves her k-pop, has that spotify and collectible cd mentality and just accepts actually seeing an act live is 50/60//70 quid or more for the regular venues (dont ask about the BTS tickets...ghettosynth wrote: Fri Oct 10, 2025 10:14 pmyou would think that by the time you get to be old enough to remember Rush enough that you want to see them in concert that you'd roll your eyes at that kind of crap as well. So yeah, Rush were 'my band' back in my mid teens yet my eyes are rolling big time at these kind of prices. Each to their own....

From $22.50 in 1992. (That's $51.96 in today's dollars - that's kinda hyper inflation, no?)

According to the BoE, that works out as ~£67 in today's money, so Blackpink et al are priced the same as the faxmeister and friendsGaryG wrote: Fri Oct 10, 2025 10:32 pm ticket for Genesis in '87 to a tout, sure it was ~£23, double a CD at the time)(double the price of a CD today come to think of it...)

mainly bank managers and math teachers, who spent their misspent youths being studious and working hard.
now looking back on a life devoid of "moments" like these, that the rest of us had, during our formative years. they hear us discuss such things, look up at the 10ks worth of gibson on the wall, and think "i should have learned to play when i was young, maybe smoked a doobie..."

I've got in my head the face value was about 23 quid, was offered peanuts obvs. Maybe my metric is screwed because CDs seem to cost the same...Bunny_boy wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 2:45 pmAccording to the BoE, that works out as ~£67 in today's money, so Blackpink et al are priced the same as the faxmeister and friendsGaryG wrote: Fri Oct 10, 2025 10:32 pm ticket for Genesis in '87 to a tout, sure it was ~£23, double a CD at the time)(double the price of a CD today come to think of it...)

But, y'now, not going to begrudge anyone their fun, will be interesting what they go for if UK dates are announced.
Edit: On ebay... 15 quid for Wembly Stadium... (seller wants 25
