Elephant from Voxengo is the best I've heard. Toneboosters Barricade is also fantastic.

Post

Elephant is really good, and has a great clipping mode as well.

bx true peak is also really pretty good.

The isotope limiter is pretty decent, but perhaps not as good as the two above, but... the soft clip in it is *really* nice.

I have no doubt Fabfilter is also right out there, but don't have it. But really there must be a dozen good choices for this these days, with very little between them.

Just so expensive though. Fabfilter are great but maybe not that great.

What do you like in particular about Pro L?
You are right. To expensive.. but I was purchased full bundle some years ago. I really like some algorithms in this limiter and settings. Clean work and easy to use. BTW I am also often use some stock limiters in Cubase

Any other info about this new limiter you can share? Impressed that it seems to have nudged Limitless out of the #1 spot.
If less is more, imagine how much more MORE will be.

I'm afraid I can't as it's yet to be announced - and it's definitely not my place to reveal it to the world - BUT I'm 100% positive you'll immediately connect the dots once it's public (which should happen soon). It's not the developper's first rodeo :)

Limitless is still fabulous obviously, no question about that. Dave is one of the most talented developers around.

Thanks for the reply! Very intrigued. Will keep looking toward the horizon for the upcoming arrival. :borg:

I very much like Ocelot clipper already and suspect I'll get their limiter. What I heard of it is very good. Simple to use, great GUI, quality dynamics control and the cherry on top of the cake - a delta mode. All limiters, clipper, compressors should have this imo. Currently using izotope limiter, OK but I think it's days are numbered. There is definitely better out there.

I also second Limiter6. Hard to go wrong with TDR.

"Best" is impossible to answer. There are many very good ones that do slightly different things.

https://initialaudio.com/clipper2/ this is pretty good. it does limiting as well.

This is where I ended up going. Really great, easy to use, plenty of options although I don't care about anything except good clean limiting.

From the few I've tried I'd say Sonible Smart Limit, but I get the impression that unless you're trying to really push things to extremes there's almost no difference between competing products. I was finding that Tokyo Dawn's limiter started to audibly distort at similar levels to the Sonible, but the latter is a touch smoother, and it's a lot easier to use. I could have stuck with Tokyo Dawn and saved some money, but curiosity won out.

What level of final limiting are you people doing usually? I usually find its much less than 2dB on our tracks.

DMG Limitless does its thing mathematically perfect. They explained it in a video. The TC6000 hardware was before it and the Eventide Newfangled Elevate is multiband.
