Sure there are plenty of 128mb players that are still like $75. If one buys one, they're foolish. That's old generation stuff with still inflated prices. Fact is you can get a SanDisk player, 1 gig, WITH A SCREEN, for $120, at retail stores. Paint it white, if you like...TennesseeVic wrote: Since when does 512M for $99 not compare favourably to 128M for $75 (Amazon price)?

MuVo TX 512mb $114TennesseeVic wrote:What on earth!?foosnark wrote:That Shuffle MP3 player doesn't compare favorably to the Creative Nomad MuVo and its clones.
Since when does 512M for $99 not compare favourably to 128M for $75 (Amazon price)?
And why does Amazon list so many reviews that say the Nomad is great while it lasts?

Has an LCD display, FM tuner, and equalizer. Includes armband, carrying case with beltclip, and (admittedly probably crappy) earbuds, all of which are extra accessories for the Shuffle that total $100. Plus it has no need of an external battery pack since it already has one; the 2 AAA battery pack for the Shuffle is another $30.
I own the original model MuVo (128MB with no LCD); it's two years old and is still just fine. In fact it works better than it did when I first bought it thanks to a firmware update.
Also just by looking at photos, I'm guessing the form factor of the Shuffle makes it more difficult to plug directly into some USB jacks and for some people will require an cable or unplugging other things; I haven't had that problem with my MuVo.
Also also, I can't find any other 512MB players that don't even have an LCD display...

Hm. Amazon says $199 list, $149 plus shipping. Still, looks pretty nice. Weighs more, is more than twice as thick as the shuffle, but yeah, nice.If one buys one, they're foolish. Creative MP3 players are crap.
I had it for like six months before it died.
I only used it lightly too.
I have a couple of other friends who have had the same experiance with thoes too.
However, people I know who own, iPods have not had any trouble. Based on my experience, the iPod is a better investment. Plus you can get all the add-ons for it too, like the microphone and the little radio broadcast thingy.

Yeah, I just got a Nomad Muvo TX FM 512 for my birthday...fantastic, except the earbuds are uncomfortable... could be that my ears are deformed or something though?foosnark wrote:That Shuffle MP3 player doesn't compare favorably to the Creative Nomad MuVo and its clones. But people will pay for the Apple logo and the iPod name.

The iPods are overpriced & underfeatured, with stupid format limitations when compared to competing products... but thats Apple for ya!
Oh...but they look so cool... whatever!8)
