Debian 13 Trixie is being released today and has 2.41, but for who want to stay on Debian 12 for a while it's a no go...
But 13 is not stable yet (what is wrong -upsy*). I installed via synaptic without issues.
2.31+ needed.
glibc-source 2.36-9+deb12u10 is available for Debian.

With the 4 computer limit, can you unregister computers? Is that limit problematic at all?

I just don't have any plugins with this limit, and want some feedback on any quirks I should be aware of before purchasing.

Earlier in this thread, I reported that the dev said to me that there's no server based activation scheme that breaks if the company goes out of business. This implies that you have to take care of the machines yourself - but this is me guessing because I didn't yet buy a plugin from them. I'm caught up in something else but want to take a closer look, soon.

Individual licences can be deactivated from the hamburger menu on on the top-right of the plugin window.

Hm, so it is server based after all?

(edit) It _appears_ to be server based - you enter your activation code and your email, there's an animated icon for a short time while the licence is validated.
After that you do not need to be online or reactivate at any time (unless you deactivate it).

(edit 2) testing a first-time authorisation while offline on Linux was successful, so my assumption based on the behaviour seen on Windows is wrong. adding a correction here to clarify...

Appreciate the clarifications.

I did google a bit, and couldn't find anyone complaining - just praise for the company and plugins - so I assumed it was possibly a non-issue.

Something doesn't add up here. This is what I asked the developer:
I wonder what copy protection your plugins use, esp. if they require communication with an online service for activation. I know I have to enter a serial and an email address but that doesn't tell me if it has to check back witht an online service or nor. I worry about these things because a big plugin developer has been shutting down their activation service for older versions of their plugins so I had to upgrade even though the newer version only featured a worse UI - nothing I wanted to have.
This is what the developer wrote me:
Thanks for your email.

Activation should work with and without internet connection.
That makes me expect this to work with their service reachable or not.

Is there maybe an alternative way in the UI to activate the plugin that's only available when there's no internet connection?

The dev is great, their plugins are excellent value, and now they are available as Linux native. As an owner of most of their plugins, and also working my way towards full Linux migration, I have nothing to complain about either : )

Ok that's interesting. I just deactivated and reactivated a plugin here, and it took a little while to activate - the animated logo sure makes it look like it's speaking to a server, but if they dev says it's not required, then I'm inclined to believe him - that said, I've never noticed another way to activate, but perhaps there is...

You are given your ativation code after purchasing the plugin. This code will then work without being online and without any connection to Toneboosters (or anyone elses) servers.

If Toneboosters go out of business (which I very much hope not) your plugins will still be able to be activated just fine - until OS updates break them at some distant point in the future.
Thanks, this is what I expected from my exchange with the dev. Really looking forward to checking out the Tonebooster plugins more in-depth, soon. They do tick all the boxes! Awesome!

What if you cannot access the plugin anymore on a specific system to deactivate it (ie system fault etc.)?
Do you "lose" that activation forever?

Thanks,
Mario

The real test would be to try to activate on a new machine with no ethernet cable, and the WiFi turned off.
